The Office of Legal Affairs, under the direction of the Senior Vice President and General Counsel, provides legal representation and advice to the University and all its constituent parts, including the Board of Trustees, the President, the Wexner Medical Center, the Office of Academic Affairs, Student Life, Athletics, Human Resources, Business and Finance, among many others. As one of the largest universities in the nation, Ohio State is a multifaceted and sophisticated institution, with a high-level and leading-edge legal practice that touches nearly every area of law, including litigation, labor and employment law, constitutional law, civil rights law, construction and public contracting, intellectual property, business transactions, real estate, tax and benefits, public safety and criminal law matters, immigration law, sports law, administrative law, health care law, and privacy matters. Under the day-to-day supervision of the Senior Assistant Vice President and Senior Associate General Counsel of the Legal Affairs Risk Management unit, the Associate General Counsel will provide legal advice and services to the Wexner Medical Center on a broad range of complex risk management and medical staff affairs matters. Working independently and in close collaboration with Wexner Medical Center business units the highly motivated individual in this role will provide legal and risk guidance in areas that include, without limitation, complex clinical event investigation, complex medical staff affairs matters, licensure concerns, scope of practice, telehealth advice, regulatory matters, pre-litigation, development of risk reduction strategies, independently develop and conduct educational sessions, committee membership, and independently provide risk management on-call services for the Wexner Medical Center. The Associate General Counsel will also assist with special projects as assigned by either the Director or Senior Associate Director of Risk Management or the Senior Vice President and General Counsel. Minimum Qualifications

The successful candidate must have graduated from an accredited law school with a Juris Doctor (J.D.) and be a member of the Ohio Bar or eligible to practice law in the State of Ohio within one year or less. A minimum of 6 years of legal practice is required. Significant previous experience in health law, including risk management, is preferred. Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills. All University attorneys are expected to work at the highest professional level with integrity, excellent judgement, attention to detail, and discretion, and to demonstrate the personal and leadership characteristics of teamwork, inclusiveness, calmness and adaptability to a broad range of issues, people, and situations. The Associate General Counsel position carries the designation of Assistant Attorney General of the State of Ohio. Accordingly, the successful candidate must also be approved by the Office of the Ohio Attorney General prior to hire. Function
