Overview Physician - Psychiatrist Community Living Center (CLC)/Home Based Primary Care (HBPC) - Martinez. This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) as described by VA policy. Details about program approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants may be ineligible to apply. The work schedule is typically Monday to Friday; 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.

Duties / Responsibilities

Conduct review of medical history, physical exams and mental status exams.

Complete assessments and formulate diagnoses; develop treatment plans; order labs and/or radiological assessments for a wide variety of mental disorders.

Provide medication management as indicated in the treatment plan.

Facilitate medication support groups; evaluate and provide medical clearance for patients presenting to the clinic who may need psychiatric hospitalization.

Assess and intervene for patients presenting in crisis as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Requirements and Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

United States Citizenship; Doctor of Medicine (MD) or equivalent; current, full and unrestricted medical license; completion of residency in an approved program leading to board certification eligibility; proficiency in spoken and written English; ability to pass background/security checks; may require online onboarding; adherence to pre-employment requirements; vaccination program participation as applicable.

Preferred Experience:

Geriatrics Psychiatry experience for General Adult Psychiatry with Geriatrics experience.

Residency & Certification:

VA-accepted residency programs (ACGME or AOA) or equivalent; for non-US residencies, verification of credentials by appropriate boards and agencies.
