Summary
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Applicants must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit their EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, including award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years), is determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services after review of the application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply. Qualifications
To qualify, applicants must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Pending completion of training or licensing requirements, applicants may be tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Current VA-employed physicians who initially met the previous qualification standards are deemed to meet the basic requirements. Basic Requirements:
U.S. Citizenship (non-citizens only when recruitment of qualified citizens is not possible) Degree of MD or equivalent from an approved school Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the U.S. Residency training approved by the VA, leading to board eligibility in a core specialty For residents: enrolled in ACGME/AOA accredited programs or equivalent experience Proficiency in spoken and written English Preferred experience in Geriatrics, Palliative Care, Nursing Come Care, or Home Care Board eligibility or certification in Geriatric or Palliative Medicine preferred Physical requirements include lifting, pushing, reaching, walking, standing, and other physical standards as specified Duties
Provide comprehensive medical care for patients with complex conditions in outpatient and inpatient settings at the VA Southern NV Health Care System Supervise and oversee clinical activities involving trainees, including residents, fellows, and medical students Engage in clinical, administrative, teaching, and research responsibilities within the Geriatrics and Extended Care Service line, including HBPC, Palliative Care, and Geriatric Evaluations Participate in the Education Debt Reduction Program and related incentives Offer a competitive salary with performance bonuses, paid time off, retirement benefits, insurance options, licensure, CME reimbursement, and malpractice coverage Work hours are typically 7:30AM - 4:00PM or 8:00AM - 4:30PM Participate in accreditation, provide direct patient care, collaborate with specialty clinics, lead team meetings, and engage in academic activities
