The Associate Dean for Religious and Spiritual Life will serve as a key member of the Office for Religious and Spiritual Life’s multifaith team to guide, nurture, and enhance spiritual life at the University. Reporting to the Dean for Religious and Spiritual Life, the Associate Dean will engage the broader University community, providing opportunities to facilitate religious practice, foster multifaith engagement, and promote spiritual wellness in line with departmental values. The Associate Dean will collaborate closely with the broader Jewish community at Stanford, including the Taube Center for Jewish Studies, Hillel@Stanford, and Jewish Stanford Affiliated Religion groups to foster a vibrant community of belonging on campus. The Associate Dean will join an engaged spiritual life team that works in an interdependent model. This position will work with the team across all programs and portfolios and participate in University events. This includes leading university multifaith rituals, supporting university-sponsored religious observances of diverse holy days, and coordinating ORSL-supported courses. CORE DUTIES : Participate as an active member of a multifaith team to guide, nurture and enhance spiritual and religious life across the University. Serve as a religious leader and advisor for all students, staff, and faculty while supporting and fostering Jewish life on campus. Cultivate close partnerships within the Jewish community of Stanford, including the Taube Center for Jewish Studies, Hillel@Stanford, and Jewish Stanford Affiliated Religions organizations. Coordinate ORSL multifaith programming including student gatherings, lectures, events, and programs. Coordinate ORSL multifaith academic offerings led by ORSL staff in collaboration with other offices and departments. Provide thoughtful and compassionate spiritual care for students, faculty, staff, alumni and other members of the university community. Care for members of the community through attentive and sensitive spiritual care, including a calm, non-anxious presence in times of tragedy. Serve on University committees at the request of the Dean to support the work of the broader campus community. Other duties may also be assigned. Minimum Requirements : Education & Experience:

Master of Divinity (M.Div) and five years of relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience. Certifications And Licenses:

Ordination or equivalent; Rabbinic ordination and two to three years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience. Must possess and maintain a valid California non-commercial Class C Driver’s License. Acute pastoral sensitivity and discretion; ordination or professional religious training; experience in religious leadership; multifaith competency; commitment to serving as a chaplain in higher education; ability to lead public worship, teach/preach, moderate discussions, present on religious, spiritual, and societal questions; experience with diverse Jewish experiences; ability to design innovative curricula and facilitate courses for young adults; demonstrated ability to counsel, support, and inspire young adults; ability to work independently and prioritize tasks. Physical Requirements:

Frequently stand/walk, sit, perform desk-based computer tasks, and use a telephone. Occasionally kneel/crawl, twist/bend/stoop/squat, grasp, lift/carry/push/pull objects weighing 21-40 pounds. Pay ranges are Stanford’s good-faith estimate; final pay depends on scope, qualifications, and other factors.
