Overview This associate role is within the Risk and Return group of Allstate Investments, rotating between the Quantitative research and Analytics teams. The teams are responsible for embedding quantitative and data driven tools and insights into Allstate's platforms to support asset allocation, public and private market investing. The teams leverage traditional statistical methods, advanced data science and machine learning algorithms, and generative AI models to integrate quantitative and data-driven insights into fundamental investment ("quantamental") processes. The associate will support quantitative research, data sourcing and analysis. This role involves developing and maintaining quantitative investment models, conducting data-driven research, and supporting portfolio optimization across various asset classes. The candidate will collaborate with stakeholders to enhance risk analysis, performance attribution, and data infrastructure, leveraging advanced analytics and machine learning techniques to drive investment insights.
This role is part of Allstate Investments' two-year development program designed to cultivate future leaders in asset management. While the position is a two-year role, strong performers have been offered the opportunity to transition to a career-track opportunity. Successful associate candidates have also transitioned to roles at competitive firms, corporate development, and matriculated to top business schools. Responsibilities
Quantitative Analysis:
Conduct in-depth financial and risk modeling, alpha signal research, and algorithm development to support trading strategies and investment decisions.
Data Analysis:
Analyze large datasets to uncover trends, patterns, and insights that drive business decisions. Utilize machine learning and statistical techniques to enhance data-driven strategies.
Support development, back testing and performance tracking of quantitatively oriented investment strategies and portfolio optimization for asset allocation, fixed income, public equity and private assets.
Work with risk management systems in modeling assets, and assist portfolio managers to analyze risk for various portfolios.
Maintain and enhance existing credit and equity quant models, optimizers and Quantamental tools.
Collaborate with IT/Infrastructure resources in building and implementing quantitative investment systems and processes.
Data-related responsibilities include working with key stakeholders to define data and analytics requirements, building out performance attribution and risk reporting frameworks, validating calculation logic and quality of vendor analytics, and ensuring data consistency across platforms.
Qualifications and Skills
Education and Experience:
Senior pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or Data Science. 0 to 3 years of related experience.
Functional Skills:
Demonstrated analytical and programming skills, with familiarity in SQL, Python, and statistical tools preferred. Self-motivated and intellectually curious, with a strong passion for investment management and continuous learning. Ability to work independently to solve problems within defined tasks, and to draw meaningful insights from data and communicate findings effectively under guidance. Strong verbal and written communication skills for conveying ideas to investment professionals. Experience with data visualization platforms such as Tableau or Power BI is a plus.
