Job Introduction We are looking for a dynamic Manager, Engineering - Data candidate in the Global Finance Technology (GFT) organization who combines strong technical capabilities with exceptional leadership skills. You will lead teams responsible for the development and maintenance of our Finance data products. Your role will involve driving technical solutions that enhance GFT Data integration, ensuring the scalability and reliability of our data platforms, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support strategic objectives.

Responsibilities

Responsible for hiring, managing, and deploying resources across team(s) to enable optimal alignment of staff to business priorities.

Coordinate with vendors to ensure talent management, on-boarding and transition are performed in a consistent manner.

Understand the business domain and product vision; in partnership with other team members (Scrum Master, Architect, Product Owner, etc.) aligns work of the team toward the shared goals for the product. In partnership with Product Owner, identifies key performance indicators to measure success of work product.

Coach and evaluate performance and quality of work delivered by team members. Create motivating work environment for team(s) and ensure team is constantly learning and delivering quality code. Monitor team effectiveness and address issues affecting team productivity.

Understand tools, architecture, security and scalability needs for assigned team(s); provide technical engineering guidance with less experienced team members. Remove roadblocks and manage interdependencies when needed.

Initiate and foster collaborative partnerships with current and potential clients, technology and business managers, vendors and technology executives; develop relationships that support increasing efficiency and effectiveness.

Coordinate and deliver performance reviews in a timely manner and drive professional development, including rotations and special assignments.

Participate in the development of business and/or technology vision, strategies, critical success factors and operating plans for the application, unit or platform.

Manage total cost of ownership, advocate for removal of technical debt, assist and support team effectiveness. May establish financial plan for the application, portfolio or overall unit and manage to plan.

Drive modernization efforts aligned with GFT’s strategic technology vision and north star architecture.

Production support and continuous optimization of our existing financial processes in support of meeting established KPI targets, including critical month-end financial close activities.

Champion and effectively utilize agile methodology and practices. Embody a growth mindset and creative, strategic thinking. Ensure teams are constantly learning and delivering quality within engineering excellence guardrails.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in technical or business discipline and a minimum of five years’ experience in a practice relevant domain including delivering software solutions in an agile environment.

Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in a practice relevant domain including delivering data solutions in an agile environment.

Minimum 3+ years in a leadership role preferred.

Knowledge of cloud technologies (AWS, Snowflake) required, experience with cloud development preferred. Experience with Financial systems and processes strongly preferred.

Able to manage complex technology development concepts, capabilities and maturity.

Excellent analytical ability, consultative communication, presentation and management skills, strong judgment and ability to effectively liaise with cross functional stakeholders and optimize teams.

Demonstrated ability to operate collaboratively and build consensus. In-depth knowledge of technology standards and guidelines; knowledge of management concepts, practices and techniques; thorough knowledge of business functions and operations, objectives and strategies.

Pay and Benefits Liberty Mutual provided pay range: This range is provided by Liberty Mutual Insurance. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.

Base pay range: $134,000.00/yr - $254,000.00/yr

About Us Pay Philosophy: The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
