Join a dynamic team focused on delivering high-quality software solutions for Liberty Mutual’s Independent Agent (Safeco) channel. As an Engineering Manager, you will lead cross‑functional teams, drive business initiatives, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

Job Summary Responsible for hiring, managing, and deploying resources across team(s) to enable optimal alignment of staff to business priorities. Coaches and evaluates performance and quality of work delivered by team members. Creates a motivating work environment and ensures continual learning and delivery of quality code. Provides technical engineering guidance, manages total cost of ownership, champions agile methodology, and advocates for the removal of technical debt.

Responsibilities

Ensures application or portfolio of platforms are enhanced and maintained to meet business functional needs; identifies key performance indicators in partnership with Product Owner.

Understands the business domain and product vision; aligns team work toward shared product goals with stakeholders.

Monitors team effectiveness and addresses issues affecting team productivity.

Supports team members in addressing or escalating issues for overall efficiency.

Removes roadblocks and manages interdependencies as needed.

Initiates collaborations with clients, technology and business managers, vendors, and technology executives to increase efficiency.

Manages the quality of work delivered by team members and handles performance issues timely.

Coordinates performance reviews and drives professional development, including rotations and special assignments.

Facilitates mentoring experiences and provides technical coaching to team members.

Hires talent and engages in recruiting processes.

Coordinates with vendors for talent management, on‑boarding, and transition consistency.

Participates in developing business and/or technology vision, strategies, critical success factors, and operating plans.

May establish financial plans for application or unit and manage overall planning.

May lead efforts to evaluate, select, and implement new technologies.

Qualifications

Knowledge of technology concepts, strategies, and methodologies typically acquired through a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree and a minimum of five years’ experience in a relevant domain delivering software solutions in an agile environment.

Three years in a leadership role preferred.

Ability to manage complex technology development concepts and capabilities.

Excellent analytical, consultative, communication, presentation, and management skills with strong judgment and liaison ability across cross‑functional stakeholders.

Demonstrated ability to operate collaboratively, build consensus, and possess in‑depth knowledge of technology standards, management practices, and business operations.

Employees may apply for a new role after completing 12 months of employment in their current position.

Pay and Benefits Base pay range: $134,000.00/yr – $254,000.00/yr. Compensation may include bonus and/or commission earnings based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan.
