Overview

The general practice staff dentist serves as a practicing dentist who performs a full range of professional dental procedures in connection with the treatment of commonly encountered dental diseases or dental health problems requiring standard corrective - restorative - or preventive measures. Responsibilities

The General Dentistry staff dentist shall be proficient in all aspects of general dentistry including the ability to perform selected specialty services. Specifically - the provider should possess the expertise and competency to perform the following: make oral and radiographic examinations of the oral cavity; diagnose pathological or irregular oral conditions. Administer local anesthesia. Perform routine and complex restoration of teeth. Perform simple and complex extractions of teeth. Perform alveoloplasty and other routine surgical procedures. Perform prosthetic dentistry to include immediate dentures, full dentures, partial dentures, crowns and fixed bridge work, including restoration of dental implants. Perform routine endodontic procedures on single and multi-canal teeth. Perform routine and surgical periodontal procedures. Provide education and training for members of the staff through conferences, committees and lecture series. May be assigned administrative or managerial responsibilities through participation in clinical, educational and administrative committees, task groups or special projects. Work Schedule & Benefits

Work Schedule: Full-time - Monday-Friday - 7:15 am-4:45pm Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP)

Authorized Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP). This position is eligible for EDRP - a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of your start date. Program approval - award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.
