Position Summary: They are seeking an experienced and strategic Vice President of Immunology to lead our early-stage discovery efforts in immunology and inflammation. This individual will play a key role in identifying, validating, and advancing novel therapeutic targets and mechanisms within their pipeline. The ideal candidate will bring deep scientific and leadership expertise from a large biopharma setting, with a strong track record of advancing programs from discovery through to IND-enabling studies and leadership abilities. Key Responsibilities: Lead immunology-focused drug discovery efforts from target identification through lead optimization and IND-enabling studies. Design and execute research strategies that align with therapeutic area goals and company priorities. Oversee in vitro and in vivo studies to evaluate immune pathways, target modulation, and translational biomarkers. Collaborate cross-functionally with teams in biology, pharmacology, translational science, clinical development, and business development. Manage and mentor a team of scientists and research associates. Contribute to external collaborations and represent the company in scientific meetings and publications. Ensure scientific rigor and innovation in experimental design and interpretation. Support program strategy, timelines, and decision-making for portfolio advancement. Qualifications: PhD in Immunology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or related field. 15+ years of industry experience in immunology drug discovery (target ID), with at least 5 years in a large pharmaceutical company (required). Demonstrated experience advancing programs through early research to IND-enabling studies. Deep understanding of innate and adaptive immune mechanisms and pathways. Experience managing and mentoring scientific teams. Proven ability to collaborate in a matrixed, cross-functional environment. Strong publication record and/or evidence of scientific leadership in the field. Excellent communication and strategic thinking skills. Preferred Experience: Expertise in inflammation, autoimmune disease. Familiarity with biologics, small molecules, or novel therapeutic modalities. Experience with external collaborations, CRO/vendor management, and translational science. Seniority level
