This position is located at the Manchester VA Healthcare System in Manchester, NH within the thriving Medicine Specialty Department, which includes Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Pulmonology, Rheumatology, Oncology, Dermatology, Allergy, Infectious Disease, and others, in an outpatient setting. The position reports directly to the Chief of Staff and routinely collaborates with other Departments such as Primary Care and Mental Health in a collegial and professional atmosphere.
Duties The Chief of Medicine (COM) is responsible for all aspects of patient care including timely access, efficiency, effectiveness, and appropriateness of care and treatment rendered by all Medicine Specialty providers.
The COM demonstrates leadership in interpreting and supporting VACO, VISN, and local station mission, vision, and values, while operating in accordance with Veterans Health Administration (VHA) policies, facility and VISN policies, and standards of federal professional and accrediting agencies external to VHA.
The COM is responsible for continuous maintenance, assessment, and improvement of the quality of care and services provided by all Medicine Specialty Service staff.
The COM will report to the Professional Standards Board recommendations concerning classification, appointment, and delineation of clinical privileges for:
