Assistant Professors (TT) - Biomedical Engineering - Multiple Positions at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Appointment start date is September 1, 2026. These are tenure-track positions at the assistant professor level; appointments at the associate professor level may be considered based on qualifications. Applicants working in areas with a strong clinical and translational focus and potential collaborations with UMass Chan Medical School are strongly encouraged to apply. Location: UMass Amherst, Department of Biomedical Engineering, Union: MSP, Category: College of Engineering, Tenure Track. Responsibilities
Teach existing undergraduate and graduate courses in Biomedical Engineering and develop new curricula in areas of expertise or across disciplines. Establish and maintain an externally funded research program with scholarly excellence. Mentor students and contribute to a diverse, equitable, and inclusive academic environment. Qualifications
Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering or a closely related field or anticipate such a degree by August 31, 2026. Potential for scholarly excellence and developing an externally funded research program; internationally recognized scholarly presence preferred. Ability to teach existing undergraduate and graduate courses in the BME curriculum and to develop courses in their area of expertise. Salary
Salary (Academic year - 9 month) will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The typical range is between $79,350 and $131,123. Specific pay will be determined by the University if an offer is extended. Application Instructions

A minimally qualified pool is identified by the end of 2025. Remaining candidates are evaluated; a long list is identified and interviewed via video conference. Invited candidates will be notified at least one week before interviews. For long-listed candidates: references contacted and candidates may be asked to submit 1–2 representative works. A short-list is developed from the long list and invited to on-campus interviews; campus interviews are anticipated to begin in February.
