Description

The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) is a professional Registered Nurse reporting to the unit director/manager who utilizes the nursing process to manage clinical and operational activities within assigned shift. The ANM is responsible for supporting the director/manager in planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating services of the unit and providing managerial presence for all shifts. The ANM is responsible for managing clinical and non-clinical caregivers and providing input to the director/manager for evaluation purposes related to performance. Duties include but not limited to compliance to professional nursing standards and regulatory requirements; implementing and monitoring compliance to policies, processes and clinical priorities, coaching, mentoring and collaborating to deliver quality health care to patients.

Responsibilities Supervises the planning, coordination and delivery of patient care activities of the unit(s) in a team environment.

Supervises coordinating daily staffing and utilization of health care providers according to established standards of care and competencies. Supervises scheduling process of staff.

Supports performance improvement program and initiatives. Actively participates in professional governance.

Collaborates with all other hospital management personnel in problem solving in the absence of the director.

Participates in interviewing, selecting, training, developing, coaching, evaluating, appraising and disciplining department staff. In conjunction with manager, processes terminations.

Oversight of managing Kronos activities.

Follows principles and requirements outlined in Compliance Integrity Program, Code of Conduct and any other organizational materials related to compliance with laws and regulatory requirements.

Provides input to development and revision of unit policies and procedures.

Supports patient rights and code of conduct.

Inspects the unit regularly for compliance with department policies and procedures, standards and regulations, and takes corrective action when indicated.

Promotes harmonious relationships and favorable attitudes amongst the health care team.

Promotes and maintains a positive and open working relationship with the medical staff and other hospital departments.

Conducts staff meeting posting agendas and minutes in department.

Assists to resolve patient complaints in a timely manner, referring to manager/director or other sources to intervene as appropriate.

Serves as a role model to staff in upholding positive relationships with patients and visitors.

Consults and serves as a resourced professional to staff members by identifying learning needs and providing instructions to staff member when observed to be needed.

Contributes creative ideas for systems and supplies; participates in evaluation of new products, supplies and equipment.

Provides direction to nursing staff to get their assignments completed in a timely manner and to assure that all team members will/are working at their capacity.

UOR follow-up

Department Overview Labor and Delivery: 30 labor beds

OB ED: 9 beds total

OB ORs: 4 operating rooms

Births: Approximately 550-600 per month

Deliveries: Starting from 22-23 weeks gestation

NICU: Level 4 with 77 beds

Teams: Includes MFM team, Midwifery, OB, Family Medicine

Programs: Addiction Recovery program for pregnant/laboring patients and postpartum couplets, Doula and Cultural Navigators

24/7 Services: Anesthesia, Laborist, and Neonatology

5 EAST Main L&D Unit: 6 bed OB ED, 14 labor rooms, 2 ORs, Charge RN, and Laborist

5 South: Scheduled C-sections, overflow labor, occasional Antepartum or Postpartum overflow, Charge RN

Required qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Graduate from School of nursing (BS, or BSN). Registered Nurses employed in this role prior to November 1, 2024 are encouraged to pursue the BSN degree but obtaining the degree will not be a condition of employment.

Upon hire: Washington Registered Nurse License.

Upon hire: National Provider BLS - American Heart Association

Preferred qualifications Recent clinical experience in an acute care hospital.

Charge Nurse/Relief Charge Nurse experience.

Leadership experience.

Shared Governance experience.
