Overview
The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) is a professional Registered Nurse reporting to the unit director/manager who utilizes the nursing process to manage clinical and operational activities within the assigned shift. The ANM supports the director/manager in planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating services of the unit and provides managerial presence for all shifts. The ANM manages clinical and non-clinical caregivers and provides input to the director/manager for performance evaluation. Duties include ensuring compliance with professional nursing standards and regulatory requirements; implementing and monitoring policies, processes and clinical priorities; coaching, mentoring and collaborating to deliver quality health care to patients. Supervise the planning, coordination and delivery of patient care activities of the unit(s) in a team environment. Coordinate daily staffing and utilization of health care providers according to established standards of care and competencies; supervise the scheduling process of staff. Support performance improvement programs and initiatives; actively participate in professional governance. Collaborate with all hospital management personnel in problem solving in the absence of the director. Participate in interviewing, selecting, training, developing, coaching, evaluating, appraising and disciplining department staff; assist in processing terminations with the manager. Oversee Kronos activities and workforce management. Ensure compliance with the Compliance Integrity Program, Code of Conduct and regulatory requirements. Provide input to development and revision of unit policies and procedures. Support patient rights and code of conduct; inspect the unit for compliance and take corrective action as needed. Foster harmonious relationships and open communication within the health care team; maintain positive relationships with medical staff and other departments. Coordinate staff meetings, agendas and minutes within the department; assist in resolving patient complaints in a timely manner. Serve as a role model in professional conduct and patient-facing interactions; identify learning needs and provide instruction to staff when needed. Contribute ideas for systems and supplies; participate in evaluating new products, supplies and equipment. Provide direction to nursing staff to complete assignments in a timely manner and ensure staffing capacity aligns with patient needs. Department Overview
Labor and Delivery: 30 labor beds OB ED: 9 beds total OB ORs: 4 operating rooms Births: Approximately 550-600 per month Deliveries: From 22-23 weeks gestation NICU: Level 4 with 77 beds Teams: MFM, Midwifery, OB, Family Medicine Programs: Addiction Recovery for pregnant/laboring patients and postpartum couples, Doula and Cultural Navigators 24/7 Services: Anesthesia, Laborist, Neonatology 5 EAST Main L&D Unit: 6 bed OB ED, 14 labor rooms, 2 ORs, Charge RN and Laborist 5 South: Scheduled C-sections, overflow labor, occasional Antepartum/Postpartum overflow, Charge RN Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN). RNs employed in this role prior to November 1, 2024 are encouraged to pursue the BSN; obtaining the degree is not a condition of employment. Washington Registered Nurse License upon hire. National Provider BLS – American Heart Association upon hire. Preferred Qualifications
