Manage all aspects of insurance defense litigation from case inception to verdict, including initial case assessment, discovery, depositions, motion practice, pre-trial negotiations, courtroom advocacy, and post-trial motions to ensure favorable outcomes for clients. Gather and organize documents, evidence, and legal research for cases, including preparation for hearings, trials, arbitrations, mediations, and depositions. Conduct legal research on relevant laws, regulations, and case precedents; prepare summaries and reports. Prepare and draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and other legal documents. Interview clients and witnesses, drafting summaries of statements and maintaining communication records. Attend court hearings, depositions, and other legal proceedings to observe and assist as needed; may represent the company or clients in routine matters. Monitor changes in laws and regulations and assist in updating the legal team on potential impacts to ongoing cases. Participate in training sessions and mentorship programs to develop legal skills and gain exposure to more complex legal work. Education
Juris Doctorate and active membership in good standing with the Virginia State Bar. Minimum Requirements
Seeking candidates with entry-level to early career experience in trial advocacy. Successful completion of courses focused on legal research, writing, and analysis, demonstrating the ability to conduct thorough legal research and draft clear, well-structured legal documents. Strong time management skills, effectively balancing multiple tasks and deadlines. Ability to organize case files, manage legal documents, and understand the discovery process. Skilled in communicating with clients, preparing summaries, and maintaining records of interactions. Well-versed in legal ethics and the standards of professional conduct. Fundamental negotiation techniques and strategies for client interactions and settlement discussions. Must be within a commutable distance to courthouses throughout Northern Virginia, with primary courts including Loudoun County, Alexandria City, Arlington County, Fairfax County and Prince William County.
