Job Summary Providing excellent technical support to both internal and external customers is an integral part of CEMEX business strategy. To that end, the Director of Quality & Technical Services must have the relevant experience and be capable of troubleshooting field and plant related problems relative to the performance of our aggregate products. The successful candidate will be responsible for directly managing and effectively leading all activities of the Quality Control teams within Aggregates operations across the United States. This position reports to the VP of Operations Support.

Job Responsibilities

Lead, coach and develop QC Managers and Supervisors on: skillset, training, development needs and performance management.

Partner with Operations and Plant Managers to eliminate processes that create rework or wasted material. Follows-up on all quality issues to ensure customer satisfaction.

Consistently look for opportunities to enhance CEMEX technical image.

Actively participate in addressing complex troubleshooting problems.

Develop, oversee, and coordinate all proactive programs to enhance customer relations including customer training and seminars.

Assist in the development and compilation of technical presentations on aggregates testing procedures, etc.

Work closely with other members of Technical Services and Quality Assurance Team to ensure a consistent, high-quality product.

Participate in the Aggregate Material Master team as a subject matter expert.

Actively participate in pertinent technical organizations, such as National Aggregate Technical Committees, National Transportation Builders specification committee, NSSGA Engineering Technical Committee, ASTM, if necessary and as determined and assigned by the VP/GM of Aggregates operations across the United States.

Perform all other work or special tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

BS in Geotechnical, Civil Engineering or Materials Science required

ACI Certification, Aggregate Testing Technician certification preferred

Professional Engineer designation (P.E.) preferred.

Minimum of 10 years of experience in the building materials industries (aggregates, bulk materials); or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Familiar with industry concepts, practices, and procedures.

A demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and to prioritize and allocate resources in a fast-changing environment.

Technical knowledge of building materials as well as technical aspects of customer's products, systems and applications.

Working knowledge of construction materials testing, soils, asphalt, concrete.

Competent in cement products application technology.

Familiarity with industry standards and codes, ACI, ASTM, AASHTO, applicable U.S. Building Codes.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong communication skills (both oral and written) including presentation skills

Word, Power Point, Excel, SAP, experience with Stonemont Solutions Stonemont QC a plus

Excellent Communication & Delegation Skills

Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues timely

Must possess strong customer service skills

Must have solid time management and prioritization skills

Upholds and supports organizational goals and values

Ability to read and interpret documents such as project specifications & plans, safety rules, operating, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

Ability to write routine reports and develop and analyze statistical data of finished and unfinished products

Physical Requirements

Long periods of standing and/or walking required

Some exposure to dust, noise, and extreme temperatures

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, in order to communicate to employees/visitors as well as function safely around heavy rolling equipment

Must be able to perform all job functions which include, but may not be limited to, pushing, turning, and/or pulling of controls

Continuous exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme noise, and working outdoors

Must wear protective equipment while on the job
