The Platform Architect is a pivotal leader in driving the strategic direction and priorities of Platform Services within Infrastructure Services at UCSF. This role is instrumental in enhancing the innovative capabilities of server, storage, and database technologies, ensuring UCSF remains at the forefront of technological advancement. With a deep expertise in enterprise architecture, the Platform Architect identifies business requirements, crafts designs and prototypes, and executes testing activities to shape a robust and scalable platform services architecture. The Platform Architect develops comprehensive platform standards, guidelines, and leading-edge practices that set the benchmark for Infrastructure Services. They champion UCSF\'s platform vision and goals, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence. This role anticipates future technological trends and strategically aligns platform services to meet the evolving needs of the University. The Architect ensures IT infrastructure is operable, secure, efficient, and effective in support of the University\'s mission and delivers exceptional information technology services across customers and stakeholders. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range depends on work experience and internal equity. For positions represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range is $129,600 - $303,800 (Annual). Infrastructure Services (IS) provides 24x7 support to the University community, upholding reliability and responsiveness. Platform Services within IS manages technology platforms, including systems, databases, and cloud services, ensuring security, availability, and performance. The team oversees critical software and data center operations, including server management, storage, networking, and enterprise databases with emphasis on security and top-tier performance. These tasks support UCSF\'s mission and contribute to high-quality health services and learning outcomes. Required Qualifications

Bachelor\'s degree or equivalent in computer science, computer information systems, or related field. 7 to 10+ years in information technology, platform services, database administration, server/storage administration, infrastructure management, or software engineering. Industry certification in a Platform Services specialty (Cloud, Database, Servers, etc.). Expert knowledge of software, database, infrastructure, and platform services. Extensive experience with database technologies (Oracle, MS SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MS Access, SimpleDB, and cloud database services). Advanced knowledge of SAN, NAS, DASD, Fibre Channel, and cloud storage environments. Advanced knowledge of software development using SOA principles with Python, Java, or C++. Experience with cloud platform automation and orchestration tools. Experience implementing next-generation platform solutions (PaaS, cloud services, serverless) supporting AI or ML. Experience in project-based environments with status reporting, risk evaluation, and issue escalation. Proficiency in project management practices, including scheduling, status reporting, and risk communication. Budget planning, business case development, and service management experience. Experience with SDLC methodologies and strong technology fluency about industry trends, vendor offerings, and platforms. Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey technical concepts to diverse stakeholders. Ability to establish positive working relationships with team members, stakeholders, and customers. Strong organizational skills to balance competing priorities and support concurrent projects. Critical thinking to scope solutions based on resources and timelines, with integrity in decision-making. Preferred Qualifications

Advanced degree in computer science or computer information systems. Industry standard security certification. License/Certification
