The Platform Architect is a pivotal leader in driving the strategic direction and priorities of Platform Services within Infrastructure Services at UCSF. This role enhances the innovative capabilities of server, storage, and database technologies, ensuring UCSF remains at the forefront of technological advancement. With deep expertise in enterprise architecture, the Platform Architect identifies business requirements, crafts designs and prototypes, and executes testing activities to shape a robust and scalable platform services architecture. The Platform Architect develops platform standards, guidelines, and leading-edge practices that set the benchmark for Infrastructure Services, aligning platform services to meet evolving needs of the University. The role aims to ensure UCSF’s IT infrastructure is operable, secure, efficient, and effective in service of the University’s mission. The salary and offer components are subject to UC policy; placement within the salary range depends on experience and internal equity, with posted range of $129,600 - $303,800 (Annual). University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is a leading academic health sciences organization. Infrastructure Services (IS) provides 24x7 support and ensures secure and reliable IT services, empowering the academic, medical, and research missions. The Platform Services team manages platforms across systems, databases, and cloud services, including Epic, data center operations, servers, storage, networking, and enterprise databases with emphasis on data security, availability, and performance. Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, in computer science, computer information systems, or related field. 7 to 10+ years in information technology, platform services, database administration, server/storage administration, infrastructure management, or software engineering. Industry Certification in a Platform Services specialty (Cloud, Database, Servers, etc). Expert knowledge of software, database, infrastructure, and platform services. Extensive experience with database technologies (Oracle, MS SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and cloud databases). Advanced knowledge of SAN, NAS, DASD, Fiber Channel, and cloud storage. Advanced knowledge of software development using SOA principles with Python, Java, or C++. Experience with cloud platform automation and orchestration methods and tools. Experience implementing next-generation platform solutions (PaaS, cloud services, serverless) enabling AI or machine learning. Experience in a project-based environment with status reporting, risk evaluation, and issue escalation. Experience with standard project management practices (scheduling, status reporting, risk/issue communication). Budget planning and service management experience. SDLC methodology experience and ability to communicate technical information to diverse stakeholders. Strong relationship-building, organizational, and prioritization skills. Strong critical thinking skills and ability to assess options, gather information, and make decisions with integrity. Preferred Qualifications

Advanced degree in computer science or related field. Industry-standard security certification. License/Certification
