Overview
The University of Miami UHealth Department of Imaging Services has an exciting opportunity for a full time MRI Technologist Level I in Miami. The incumbent is responsible for performing complex procedures in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and operating MRI equipment to obtain high-quality diagnostic images. Independent judgment and initiative are essential to identify imaging artifacts and troubleshoot scanner or coil problems and scan parameters to evaluate image quality. Sign on Bonus
– $5,000 CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Obtains and examines the MRI order to be aware of procedures requested, patient condition, and any special notes or comments. Ensures orders are appropriate for the recommended exam; notifies supervisor of discrepancies and/or contacts the physician’s office for correct orders if necessary. Identifies patient service requirements by establishing rapport with patients and others involved in service delivery. Identifies and verifies patients by checking name and date of birth on electronic medical records and wristbands. Obtains necessary MRI procedure-related information from patients or companions and educates/informs patients as needed. Performs complex tasks associated with MRI operation and related equipment in accordance with safety procedures under the direction of a Chief Technologist. Adheres to MRI protocols and integrates diagnostic information, laboratory results, patient history, and medical records; adapts exams as necessary to maintain high-quality standards. Demonstrates competence in performing MRI scans as ordered and assists in positioning patients using appropriate immobilization and protective equipment as needed. Maintains aseptic technique and universal precautions; assists Radiologist with imaging procedures, starting IVs, and injecting contrast when applicable; assists with interventional MRI procedures when applicable. Evaluates MRI scans for technical quality and archives processed images to PACS in the required sequence. Charges procedures and supplies in UChart/Radiant; dispenses oral contrast for MRI scans; loads and operates power injectors for contrast administration. Keeps accurate patient records and provides explanations of the procedure to gain patient cooperation; educates patients and answers questions. Applies age-specific and developmental care needs of patients (Children, Adolescents, Adults, Geriatric, Challenged/Disabled) under competency validation. Performs patient care duties (e.g., assisting with bedpans or emesis basins) as needed and initiates Basic Life Support (BLS) measures during emergencies when necessary; participates in “Code Blue” procedures. Maintains a clean, sanitary work area and stocks exam/dressing rooms with required supplies; provides on-call coverage when applicable. Reports unusual findings promptly to Radiologist/Supervisory personnel and supports department clerical tasks as needed. Assists with orientation and training of new MRI technologists and provides education to MRI student technologists. Adheres to hospital/department HR policies and SOPs and complies with regulatory guidelines (e.g., Joint Commission, AHCA, ACR, FL DOH, FDA/MQSA). Supports day-to-day department operations. Note:

Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology / Diagnostic Imaging Program. Certification and Licensing: BLS certification is required. ARRT registered and ARRT Certified in primary modality or within one (1) year of hire date. State of Florida License as a General Radiographer preferred. Experience: One (1) year of relevant experience is preferred and new graduates from accredited programs will be considered. Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes: Skill in completing assignments accurately with attention to detail. Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines. Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion. Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary. Commitment to the University of Miami core values.
