Jacobs is seeking a Senior Architect to join our team of interdisciplinary designers for projects in the South-East Water group, focusing on Florida, Georgia, and Puerto Rico geographies. Local candidates in Florida offices preferred, with Gainesville, FL as a focus. You will be accountable for project design quality, performance, and team communication, including development, issuance, and content of deliverables, technical content of documents, and coordination of disciplines and consultants. You may work from home or in a hybrid arrangement up to 3 days per week, with a minimum of 2 days per week in a work/office location. The role involves primarily Water/Wastewater Treatment facilities design and water/wastewater conveyance facilities design, with potential experience in Transportation, Science and Technology, Health Care, Corporate Commercial, Higher Education, or Mission Critical facilities. You will contribute to solving real-life challenges, support project teams on critical projects, and foster a culture of continuous learning and inclusion. Base salary range:
$115,000.00/yr - $145,000.00/yr . Responsibilities
Ensure the overall design intent of the project established by the Design Manager is incorporated into the detailed documentation. Lead the design process from conceptual phase through construction administration, ensuring design is properly conveyed and executed. Develop architectural specifications (with the project specification writer) and coordinate drawings and specifications. Lead the architectural discipline strategy for producing documents and identify sheets planned for each stage. Coordinate with other disciplines, vendors, and contractors to incorporate information into project requirements and provide needed support. Ensure construction documentation conforms to QA/QC and Jacobs standards. Coordinate with municipal building departments and governing agency officials for approvals. Write technical reports and memos for client-based project work. Attend on-site visits, field reviews, and project meetings; coordinate review and responses to shop drawings, RFIs, and material samples. Review drawings from vendors, clients, and other discipline designers affecting the project design. Incorporate Integrated Sustainable Design solutions into projects. Foster client service and business development through project delivery responsibilities. Develop and grow personal brand within Jacobs across disciplines, offices, and performance units. Create and maintain internal and external client relationships to secure future project opportunities. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in architecture from an accredited program (or foreign equivalent). NCARB Certificate. Licensed Architect in the United States with ability to obtain reciprocity in other U.S. states. Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in Architectural Design, with preference in public works infrastructure. Self-motivated with ability to work collaboratively and independently in a hybrid environment; adaptable to deadlines. Ability to lead and collaborate with design teams across local and remote disciplines. Strong knowledge of design trends, construction methodology, material application, and manufacturer-supplier appropriateness. Knowledge of sustainability, integrated design, and green building/green infrastructure certifications. Thorough knowledge of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and familiarity with project delivery methods (e.g., design-bid-build, design for design-build, design-build). Proficiency with building codes and standards (Florida Building Code, IBC, NFPA, OSHA), technical writing, and specifications. Ability to travel to project sites, some regional locations. Preferred/Additional Credentials
Experience with water/wastewater facilities or similar industrial uses. Proficiency with Autodesk Revit, Bentley MicroStation, SketchUp, and Microsoft O365 Suite. Proficiency in Bluebeam Revu. Familiarity with sustainable design software tools. LEED AP and/or ENV SP credentials. Understanding of coatings, compatibility, and basic corrosion mitigation strategies.
