Overview This is a pending placement role. A campus placement will be assigned upon hire. Placement could be at any of our 6 campuses.

About the Dean of Culture Role As a Dean of Culture, your primary role is to build systems and structures that create conditions and a campus community to drive exceptional student experience and academic outcomes. You will equip all students with the skills and confidence to pursue college, career, and beyond. Deans of Culture support and manage proactive, positive systems that create joyful, rigorous, identity-affirming schools (for example, whole-school Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports) and coordinate responsive systems aligned with our values. You partner with the School Principal and Assistant Principal of Culture to lead behavior and culture, cultivate a participatory and outcomes-driven school culture that honors the identities of our students, and build capacity of teachers and teacher leaders to implement and develop excellent classroom communities. You will support teacher development, focus on learning and continuous improvement, and uphold high expectations with restorative practices. You will coordinate with Deans of Instruction, the Principal, and the leadership team to implement school-wide expectations, bridge culture, community, and academics through co-curricular activities, and engage caregivers and the community. This is a full-time administrative exempt position reporting to the Assistant Principal of Culture (APC).

Role Responsibilities and Time Allocation Professional Responsibilities

Believe deeply in the mission, values, and Race, Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity (RIDE) commitments of KIPP Colorado Schools and that all children can learn.

Assume personal responsibility for student achievement.

Read, internalize, and adhere to the KIPP Colorado Policies and Procedures manual and guidelines.

Provide an active presence, strategic supervision, and intentional monitoring to ensure student safety and engagement in rigorous learning.

Engage in coaching (1–2 times every 1–2 weeks) with a manager, implement feedback, and actively practice improvements.

Be prepared for lessons, coaching, meetings, professional development, and written communications.

Meet professional obligations including deadlines and schedules.

Leverage professional tools (Google Suite and Microsoft 365).

Maintain strong attendance and punctuality; collaborate and solicit feedback for continuous improvement.

Reflect on practice and pursue professional development opportunities; participate in grade-level and department meetings.

Implement school-wide and organization-wide professional development.

Serve on a grade or functional team and share candid, solutions-oriented feedback to improve outcomes for students.

Assist with recruitment and engagement efforts, including events, home visits, and calls; may travel to other KIPP campuses or events.

Perform other duties as assigned (e.g., lunch duty, arrival/dismissal, hallway duty, etc.).

Campus Community and Culture Leadership

Partner with the APO to develop processes and protocols for enhancing school culture.

Collaborate with APC to adjust rituals, systems, and practices for overall school improvement where applicable.

Oversee Restorative Practices Coordinators or Behavior Specialists / Interventions (or equivalents).

Manage and oversee Grade Level Chairs; support alignment of school-wide systems, MTSS, data analysis, and team meetings.

Ensure accountable implementation of school-wide systems (duty rosters, PBIS, MTSS, classroom behavior).

Analyze whole-school data to inform cultural improvements, with focus on multilingual learners and students with disabilities (especially those with BIPs).

Partner with AP of Instruction, AP of Culture, and Deans of Instruction to support consistent implementation of school-wide systems and coaching.

Uphold campus and regional cultural expectations; support Grade Level Chairs in culture plans.

Develop teachers’ capacity in classroom management and student culture knowledge and mindsets; support student accountability and discipline with restorative practices.

Co-manage and co-lead summer orientation sessions.

Handle parent concerns about behavior and discipline in supported grade levels.

School Operations

Manage academic and cultural programming in designated grade levels.

Coordinate logistics for end-of-year trips and quarterly team/family trips; plan and execute trip preparations.

Co-manage Summer School (if applicable) and co-plan Data Days; co-manage Detention with Leadership Team.

Co-manage duties (arrival, dismissal, lunch, recess); co-lead Saturday School (if applicable).

Family Engagement

Work with Family Engagement Coordinator to plan events and build relationships with families and students.

Oversee family classes and support teachers with student concerns in meetings with families.

Attend parent/family events and implement systems to monitor family communication in IC behavior and conference tabs.

Student Identity Development & Culturally Responsive Teaching

Collaborate to create and deliver professional development on culturally sustaining and responsive teaching.

Plan events to celebrate diversity and ensure visual culture reflects priorities and identities.

Work with leadership to ensure visual culture aligns with strategic plan.

Student Culture

Coach teachers in strong behavior and culture practices to support rigorous instruction.

Work with student leaders to recognize excellence and celebrate achievement.

Develop school-wide culture systems with AP of Culture; participate in monthly culture walkthroughs.

Lead restorative practices in collaboration with the APC and Operations to plan student opportunities (field trips, conferences, leadership, summer programs).

Set goals and monitor teacher effectiveness with quarterly culture walkthroughs.

Implement PBIS, restorative justice, and culture data monitoring; uphold the whole-school culture plan.

Student Leadership Development

Refine plans for student voice and leadership with APC; promote student leadership opportunities.

Collaborate to give students pathways to college and career success.

Coordinate non-academic activities (clubs, after-school programs); build external partnerships for leadership opportunities.

Restorative Practices

Partner with APC to deliver restorative practices anchored in PBIS; coach staff for fidelity.

Student Discipline Policies and Practices

Oversee parent meetings for behavioral concerns; review threat assessments and safety plans.

Oversee Title IX concerns and ISS/OSS data; ensure compliant discipline practices.

Advisory Coordination

Support advisory plan implementation and develop scope and sequence for advisory curriculum with APC and teachers.

Supporting All Learners

Partner with AP of Special Services to implement Behavior Intervention Plans and MTSS with fidelity.

Coordinate MTSS implementation at grade levels with fidelity checks and progress monitoring.

Additional Responsibilities

Maintain presence and supervise to ensure safety and engagement in rigorous learning.

Collaborate with special services to ensure accommodations and supports are in place.

Enforce positive behavior systems and monitor data.

Attend after-hours events and perform duties to support operations.

Develop relationships with families through home visits, events, and communications; maintain records and student data tracking.

Assist with recruitment and other duties as assigned.

Role Level, Skills, and Qualifications About the skills and qualifications for this role:

Bachelor’s degree (required).

Spanish bilingual (preferred).

At least 2 years of relevant experience in school culture management (required).

At least 2 years of K-12 teaching experience with a track record of helping underserved students succeed (required).

Past experience leading adults in a school environment (preferred).

Commitment to an exceptional student experience.

Compensation and Benefits

Starting salary for this role begins at $73,440 and is commensurate with experience.
