Overview
Director of Business Development at Husch Blackwell is a leadership role responsible for driving the firm\'s revenue growth, enhancing brand awareness, and managing the Business Development and Proposals Teams across the US. The position may be filled remotely or in any location.
Responsibilities
Lead the development, execution and review of strategies and initiatives for relevant practices and lawyers.
Drive revenue generation initiatives including client targeting, market research, responses to RFPs, and client relationship reviews.
Collaborate with communications, brand, and awards teams to develop and execute strategic visibility initiatives and build brand awareness.
Provide direction, infrastructure, KPIs and metrics for key clients and related initiatives.
Build, manage and lead a high-performing marketing and business development team across the U.S.
Establish and maintain constructive relationships with industry leaders, practice group leaders, managing directors, and the broader department.
Improve matter collection and streamline knowledge management processes for client-facing materials.
Partner with department leadership to drive cross-functional projects, increasing efficiency, collaboration, and visibility.
Work with the Business Development Team to implement key initiatives and pursue cross-selling opportunities.
Develop and implement strategies to expand existing client relationships and generate new business.
Ensure consistency in messaging and best practices through staff development and training.
Share best practices across industry and practice groups to maximize productivity.
Coach and develop team members, mentoring and training to improve knowledge and skillsets.
Guide and motivate the team with clear performance standards and monitoring.
Identify and develop best practices, set long-range objectives and define the strategies to achieve them.
Qualifications
4-year degree in marketing, communications or related field; Master’s degree preferred; industry certifications preferred.
15 years of progressive marketing and business development experience; substantial leadership experience in a multi-office setting, preferably in a professional services firm.
Strong business development abilities including prioritization, planning, organization, follow-through, delegation and negotiation; budget management and ROI analysis.
Ability to motivate attorneys to engage in business development and to implement business development plans.
Excellent written and oral communication; ability to produce compelling proposals, collateral, research reports and client-facing materials.
Forward-thinking with a track record of delivering solutions to complex challenges; high level of maturity and client-facing confidence.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with business development and marketing technology, tools, processes and innovation.
Exceptional interpersonal skills and relationship-building; ability to build consensus and drive initiatives across diverse stakeholders.
Team-first approach with experience managing a large, geographically dispersed team; strong leadership and change-management capabilities.
Ability to stay current on legal market trends, news, and innovations.

Salaries do not include a discretionary bonus, which is non-guaranteed and depends on individual and firm performance.
