East Nashville Hope Exchange (ENHE) is a Nashville nonprofit advancing educational equity by strengthening literacy for children who face barriers to reading success. We believe literacy is a social justice issue and that every child deserves the chance to read confidently, learn boldly, and fully participate in their community. Our programs include a six-week summer literacy experience, family engagement programming, personalized reading help, and school year tutoring. We are seeking a mission-driven, hands-on Executive Director to be ENHE’s chief advocate, strategist, fundraiser, and culture builder. This leader will partner closely with the Board, parents, and our community to sustain and grow programs, steward resources, and elevate ENHE’s impact and brand. Job Responsibilities

What You’ll Do Lead with purpose.

Champion ENHE’s mission and vision; serve as the organization’s primary spokesperson and relationship builder across schools, partners, donors, parents, and the broader Nashville community. Drive strategy & programs.

Translate mission into clear goals and outcomes; ensure high-quality delivery of our summer program, family engagement, and after school tutoring; measure and report results. Grow resources.

Own fundraising and brand development by cultivating and soliciting individual and corporate gifts, managing grants, and strengthening marketing and communications to expand awareness and support. Ensure financial health.

Build and manage realistic budgets, track performance, and ensure compliance and transparency. Build team & culture.

Recruit, coach, and inspire staff and volunteers; foster an inclusive, collaborative, and accountable environment aligned to ENHE values. Run great operations.

Implement systems, policies, and processes that keep the organization efficient, compliant, and ready to scale. Partner with the Board.

Work with the Board of Directors on strategy, governance, and stewardship; provide timely, data-informed updates and recommendations. Qualifications

What You Bring A bachelor’s degree

or equivalent experience; background in education or literacy strongly preferred. Proven, high-integrity leadership

in a small organization (nonprofit experience a plus) with

3+ years

in nonprofit management and/or the education sector. Fundraising chops

to build and execute an annual funding plan aligned to ENHE’s mission and budget; own a portfolio of prospects; run segmented campaigns (mail, email, social), steward major donors, write/submit grants, develop corporate sponsorship packages, and deliver timely grant/funder reports. Budget management

and operational experience including forecasting, aligns resources to strategy, ensures compliance with grant restrictions, and presents monthly financials to the Board’s Finance Committee. Excellent communicator

that crafts compelling emails, board updates, grant narratives, and social content; presents confidently to small/large groups; simplifies data into insights (dashboards, one-pagers); maintains consistent voice aligned to ENHE’s brand. Strategic thinker

who builds roadmaps tied to measurable operational outcomes and to scale programs; anticipates risks/opportunities; sets a vision and executes; highly organized, resourceful, and collaborative. Additional Information

Starting salary:

$68,000 annually plus opportunity for an annual performance bonus. Benefits:
