Overview
Director of Manufacturing role based in Utica, NY. Manage and improve production in a food and beverage manufacturing environment, with a focus on safety, quality, efficiency, and profitability. Responsibilities
Continuously revise training plans to meet new and existing company policies and procedures. Lead, direct, and monitor every aspect of production in the manufacturing plant with strong cross functional leadership. Comply with company policy and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Prepare and maintain a fully staffed and well-trained workforce. Supervise manufacturing planning, scheduling, quality adherence, processing, materials management, and packaging. Collaborate with every department to achieve objectives. Execute strategies and practices to constantly improve production capability, quality, costs, and order fulfillment. Maintain and enhance employee safety and well-being. Train and prepare direct reports on performance management and succession planning. Propose, prepare, and execute initiatives to enhance profitability. Maximize production efficiency and optimize manpower usage. Develop and supervise annual manufacturing budgets. Ensure compliance with all manufacturing reporting as needed. Facilitate and supervise new R&D project transitions to manufacturing processes. Develop processes to ensure “best in class” food safety and quality standards. Review and analyze daily productivity, waste, and quality reports, as well as financial, statistical, and trend analysis reports. Ensure staff are held accountable for responsibilities, standards and goals; take proper actions when targets are not met. Develop new department SOPs to push for better performance. Work with cross functional department leadership. Be available to provide leadership during off hours and weekends. Main Key Performance Indicators
— be knowledgeable in SQF, OSHA, HACCP, Gemba, 5S; aim for product yields at or above standard. Qualifications
Preferably trained and certified in Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. Preferably two (2) years as a Production Manager or a four (4) year degree in a relevant field. Six (6) plus years of leadership experience. Ability and willingness to communicate with and give feedback to subordinate managers and company leadership. Possess knowledge of large-scale bakery and/or frozen dough manufacturing facility. Seniority level
