Best practice reviews. Developing realistic and effective action plans. Breaking apart goals into actionable steps. Advising on vendor selection and oversight. Creating and implementing policies, procedures, and control measures. Evaluating client advancement toward goal actualization using KPIs and scoring matrices. Engage in special projects or other areas of need. Manage day-to-day oversight of outsourced U.S. federal, state, and local tax returns, as well as outsourced international tax filings, statutory accounts, private property, and business licenses for all funds and entities. Establish and maintain tax workpapers, allocations, and tax returns; perform research to advise on transactional and tax planning opportunities (e.g., aggregate allocations, trader vs. investor determinations, and reporting). Oversee, review, and approve outside service providers’ preparation and filing of estimated and final fund returns, management-company returns, and K-1 reporting in line with ASC 740 and IAS 12. Lead a team that manages North American payroll tax processes, including tax return filing and addressing tax issues, notices, and audits. Select and manage third-party domestic and international tax service providers/vendors. Manage U.S. federal, state, local, and international tax audits/exams with internal teams, external providers, and auditors to resolve open items. Prepare and review analyses and reports to support budgeting and forecasting. Advise Portfolio Managers and executive leadership on the impact of new tax laws and regulations. Collaborate with reporting/tax advisors, finance, IT, and other business unit leaders to manage tax data requirements and maintain tax reporting/compliance processes. Serve as SME to assist limited partners and investors on tax reporting needs, including periodic estimates and year-end reporting. Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, or related field. CPA designation and/or advanced degree (MST). 10+ years of experience as a Director of Tax for a Hedge Fund or Family Office. 5+ years of experience with tax preparation, fund accounting, GL accounting, or Big 4 tax experience. Understanding of Subchapter K, financial products, wash/constructive sale rules, and aggregate allocations. In-depth understanding of tax treatment for various investment types, asset classes, instruments, and vehicle structures. Extensive compliance experience with IRS and foreign tax authorities. Proficiency with Microsoft Word/Excel and tax planning software (e.g., ProSystem fx, CCH Access Tax). Job Details

Contractor Hours: 0-40 hours per week, based on client needs. Hourly rate: $250 - $400 per hour. The final rate will be determined by engagement length, difficulty, required specialization, designations, skills, and experience.
