Manager, Strategy & Business Development (M&A Focus) , located at our World of Whirlpool office in downtown Chicago, IL, or at our Lakeview Campus in Benton Harbor, Michigan. The candidate selected for this position will be an experienced M&A/Strategy professional who stays calm under pressure, maintains oversight in the deal process, and is resilient in challenging or ambiguous situations. This person will be self-motivated, high-energy, able to function in a high-demand environment, and accustomed to working on multiple tasks in parallel. The role requires strong leadership skills and the ability to gain credibility with team members and senior management. The Corporate Strategy team is aligned with the C-suite at Whirlpool and drives initiatives in Mergers & Acquisitions, Portfolio Management, Strategic Planning, Competitive Intelligence, and Strategic Initiatives. The selected candidate will play a leading role in assessing and executing acquisition, joint venture, alliance and divestiture opportunities globally by (i) analyzing the competitive landscape with senior colleagues and (ii) contributing to the entire M&A process from outreach to business case development, Board review, negotiation strategy, diligence, integration/separation activities, and deal closing. Your Responsibilities Will Include Problem Solving and Analytical Skills: Use strong judgment and analytical skills, both quantitative and qualitative. Scope and plan financial and quantitative analyses to yield critical answers to M&A questions. Procure required data sets, independently manage timely, well-triangulated analyses, and serve as a "Player/Coach" in this role. Critical Communication Development & Business Reporting: Communicate effectively at senior levels. Create and oversee major M&A presentations for senior executives. Mastery of valuation spreadsheets and competency in Google Slides to produce impactful materials. Demonstrate openness to feedback and adaptability in a steep learning curve. Financial Modeling: Build complex financial and valuation models from scratch, communicate strategic implications to senior colleagues, and recommend solutions. Master relevant valuation techniques including DCF, public comparables, precedent M&A, LBOs, and sum-of-the-parts. Troubleshoot and enhance models under time pressure and guide junior teammates. Team Management: Build relationships with senior leaders across regions and functions to progress M&A projects. Mentor and develop junior team members (Sr Analyst). Manage day-to-day activities of cross-regional teams in a PMO capacity and relationships with 3rd party advisors when appropriate. Bachelor’s Degree 4+ years of experience in a corporate M&A, Strategy, and Business Development team environment or advisory role in a consulting firm/investment bank 2+ years of experience leading/managing M&A projects and leadership reporting Preferred Skills And Experiences MBA from a reputable institution Track record of delivering superior results under pressure and time constraints Comfortable with ambiguity and change, and willing to adapt to unpredictable hours Team-oriented, recognizes others' accomplishments Open and honest communication that builds trust and respect Proficiency in reading financial statements and building financial/valuation models Comfortable presenting to Senior Leaders and Executives Ability to build consensus, simplify the complex, and develop clear materials for varied audiences Capacity for out-of-the-box thinking and questioning the status quo Experience in global, matrix organizations Experience in Consumer / Industrial Goods Ability to occasionally travel What We Offer Generous benefits package, Whirlpool employee discount, fitness & educational reimbursement programs, kitchenettes, and more.
