Georgetown University – Planning and Facilities Management
Georgetown University comprises two campuses in Washington, D.C. The Executive Director, Residential Operations and Business Development provides strategic leadership for a large and complex university housing enterprise, including Housing Assignments, Housing Operations, Summer & Conference Housing, and Business Development. This role supports university priorities such as housing 90% of undergraduates on campus, Capitol Campus growth, and capital improvement efforts for 1.5M+ square feet of residential space.
Responsibilities
Provide vision, leadership, and management for all residential operations
Oversee $54M in housing revenue and budget planning
Coordinate capital planning and deferred maintenance for residential facilities
Lead strategic partnerships and summer conference operations
Directly supervise two Directors and provide leadership to a team of 8 staff
Ensure compliance with ADA, Title IX, Fair Housing, and equity standards
Lead crisis response and serve on the Campus Emergency Response Team
Work Interactions This position reports to the Assistant Vice President for Facilities Operations and supervises a team that includes a Director of Business Development & Summer Housing, a Director of Housing Operations, and the Associate Director of Housing, Downtown Campus. The Executive Director collaborates with Student Affairs, University Counsel, Academic Resource Center, GUPD, Office of Global Education, UIS, and other departments to shape policies and environments that support the university’s mission and student development.
Qualifications Required
Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Business, or related field; or equivalent experience and training
7–10 years of progressively responsible experience in university housing operations
Strong leadership, financial management, and occupancy management skills
Experience with housing assignment systems (e.g., StarRez)
Excellent communication, planning, and crisis management skills
Knowledge of ADA, Title IX, and Fair Housing regulations
Preferred
Experience in residential master planning, renovation, and construction
Familiarity with Jesuit, Catholic institutional values and student formation
Background in assessment and data-driven decision-making
Understanding of student learning and development theory
Work Mode This position has been designated as On-Campus. Work mode designations are regularly reviewed to meet the needs of the University.
Pay Range The projected salary range is $80,429.00 – $157,238.93. Compensation is determined by factors including qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs.
