Opportunity at a Glance The Director of Construction is a strategic leader responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and delivery of all construction projects to ensure they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety. This role requires a seasoned professional with deep expertise in construction management, project leadership, and cross-functional collaboration. The Director will work closely with the Interior Design Director to align construction timelines with design milestones, evaluate design feasibility, and maintain the seamless integration of design and construction efforts. This role involves managing project teams, engaging with internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring all construction activities comply with industry regulations and aligned with organizational goals.

Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategic Oversight

Provide overall leadership to the construction department, including setting vision, direction, and standards.

Integrated Project Management

Oversee all phases of construction from pre-construction through final delivery, ensuring seamless integration with design objectives.

Align construction timelines with interior design schedules, ensuring feasibility and quality.

Lead project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and forecasting.

Monitor project milestones, proactively manage risks, and implement corrective actions to ensure success.

Team Leadership & Development

Recruit, lead, and mentor a high-performing team of project managers, engineers, and construction personnel.

Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and results-driven culture that encourages innovation and accountability.

Support the professional development of team members through coaching, training, and performance evaluations.

Stakeholder & Vendor Engagement

Collaborate with architects, engineers, designers, contractors, and subcontractors to resolve challenges and ensure alignment.

Manage relationships with clients, vendors, and key stakeholders to ensure transparency, trust, and high-quality outcomes.

Communicate progress reports, expectations, and changes to stakeholders regularly.

Quality Assurance & Safety Compliance

Establish and enforce strict quality control standards and procedures.

Conduct regular site visits to ensure work meets company, regulatory, and safety standards.

Promote and uphold a culture of safety and compliance across all job sites.

Financial & Resource Management

Create and manage comprehensive construction budgets for each project.

Track expenditures, approve change orders, and ensure cost-effective resource allocation.

Identify and implement cost-saving measures without compromising project integrity.

Risk Management & Contingency Planning

Anticipate potential risks such as supply chain issues, labor shortages, or site constraints.

Develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans to maintain project continuity.

Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field; Master’s Degree preferred

10+ years in construction management

5+ years as a senior leader

Demonstrated success leading large-scale, complex projects from concept through completion

Proven experience managing teams, budgets, schedules, and stakeholder communications

Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, building codes, and industry regulations

Exceptional leadership, communication, and team-building skills

Advanced problem-solving and decision-making capabilities

Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously

Proficiency in construction management tools and software such as Procore, Buildertrend, and MS Project

Additional Information In support of pay transparency laws, the expected salary range for this position is between 137,847.00 and 249,126.75. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
