About Our Company Lids Sports Group is the largest licensed sports retailer in North America, selling fan and fashion-oriented headwear and apparel across the US, Canada, Mexico, Europe, and Australia. General Position Summary At Lids, our Store Managers are the heart and soul of the Lids brand. These cap experts foster passion for sporting and fashion goods by meeting customer needs while ensuring that all areas of the store are engaged. Store Managers are accountable for all aspects of store performance, creating a fun and inclusive environment for the team, and delivering exceptional customer service through product and service expertise.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
People & Training Development
Manage the store’s hiring strategy, including planning needs, recruitment strategy, projected turnover, and leaves of absence.
Assist the market’s Authorized Trainer in coordinating onboarding to acclimate new team members to Lids.
Engage team members by creating a fun and productive environment, aligning work with company objectives and store success.
Contribute to a respectful and inclusive team environment in line with Lids Brand Standards.
Update team member information, including time off, shift swaps, availability, timecards, qualifications, and other records.
Lead and monitor the store’s ongoing training strategy for non-Keyholders, process changes, promotions, and initiatives.
Address employee concerns and escalate with internal support as needed.
Promote team engagement through recognition, check-ins, and career development documentation.
Collaborate across store channels and districts using company platforms.
Customer Experience
Lead Selling 101 to achieve KPIs, sales targets, and exceptional service.
Resolve customer feedback and escalations to "make it right".
Direct in-store team efforts to ensure efficient, customer-focused operations.
Promote membership programs and offers through employee education.
Operations
Manage scheduling and payroll compliance with policies, budgets, and law.
Plan and manage schedules based on qualifications and availability.
Handle store disruptions and maintain operating continuity.
Implement company directives, promotions, and initiatives from Lids HQ.
Adhere to Policies & Procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
Maintain store technology and equipment with regular audits and updates.
Maintain store facilities, supplies, and services; process service requests and repairs.
Manage cash handling and banking procedures with accuracy and security.
Prepare store for inventory audits and support as needed.
Product & Inventory Management
Drive product strategy, oversee receiving, processing, merchandising, and transfers.
Organize backroom for efficiency and space optimization.
Ensure product integrity per vendor regulations and limits.
Lead weekly markdowns and pricing adjustments.
Monitor sell-through and inventory accuracy; manage transfers or damages per standards.
Execute layout, VM, and merchandising changes, including seasonal updates.
Maintain store appearance through day-to-day VM and restocking efforts.
Adjust signage and promotions to support sell-through.
Job Required Knowledge & Skills
A two year post-secondary education and one-year related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to achieve sales results while minimizing loss.
Proven supervisory skills with ability to train and assess retention.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Proficient with computer and related software.
Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds; climb ladders and work with hands overhead.
Standing for up to 100% of shift; ability to travel overnight for training or meetings.
Flexibility to work varied days and hours and maintain excellent attendance.
