Location: GAO Headquarters, 441 G Street NW, Washington, DC 20548 Start Date: On or about November 3, 2025 Employment Type: Full-Time We are seeking an experienced Records and Information Manager to oversee enterprise-level records management functions at the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO). This position involves planning, staffing, and directing large-scale or complex records initiatives, while ensuring compliance with federal regulations and GAO policies. The Records and Information Manager will provide leadership in records inventory, appraisal, digitization, and training, and will supervise a team of professionals and subcontractor personnel.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, direct, and oversee enterprise records management programs, systems, and initiatives.
Lead agency-wide records inventory and file planning to ensure compliance with records retention schedules.
Support proper storage, retrieval, digitization, protection, preservation, and destruction of records.
Conduct records appraisal in collaboration with GAO Records Management Staff and the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA).
Develop and track digitization strategies and processes to achieve compliance with M-19-21 and M-23-07 mandates.
Perform 100% quality assurance (QA) on all documentation, ensuring audit compliance.
Deliver training on records and information management to GAO employees, contractors, and Capstone Officials, including during bi-weekly New Employee Orientation sessions.
Supervise contractor personnel, including scheduling, training, on-site oversight, and quality control.
Prepare and maintain reports, correspondence, and case documentation relevant to records management.
Maintain strong client and stakeholder engagement while ensuring timely completion of all assigned tasks.
Required Qualifications
U.S. Citizenship.
Active Top Secret (TS) Security Clearance.
Master's degree in information management, business administration, or related discipline.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in records management support services.
Demonstrated leadership skills in managing teams, resources, and complex projects.
Preferred Qualifications
Certified Records Manager (CRM) certification (Institute of Certified Records Managers).
Experience managing large federal records programs, digitization initiatives, and compliance with NARA policies.
Schedule & Availability
Full-time, Monday-Friday, GAO core hours (6:00 AM - 7:00 PM EST).
Must be reachable during core hours and respond promptly to technical or operational requests.
