Overview
Safe Kids Worldwide Director of Program Operations (250002LC) The Program Director is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing strategic injury prevention programs. Develops a vision for the structure, growth and management of injury prevention programs that is fully consistent with the organization's strategic plan. Recommends and implements strategies to enhance program impact and reach. The Program Director ensures effective and timely execution of programs and initiatives, and works cooperatively across departments and with external partners and network members to develop strategies to influence behavior change through research, awareness and education. Collaborates in the development of programs and provides oversight and direction to the supporting departments in order to meet program goals. Networks with other partner agencies, associations and professionals to further enhance the program content. Domestic travel required.
Qualifications
Minimum Education Bachelor\'s Degree; Knowledge of public health models and multifaceted public health programs preferred. (Required) Master\'s Degree (Preferred) Minimum Work Experience 7 years related experience (Required) Required Skills/Knowledge Strategic mindset; proactively anticipates problems and offers solutions; ability to identify opportunities to improve effectiveness across programs and departments; ability to reprioritize based on new opportunities and challenges; demonstrated leadership skills; strong supervision experience working with staff, affiliates and volunteers to ensure an integrated, organized effort with goal-oriented accomplishments; ability to effectively communicate the mission of the organization and articulate the impact of injury prevention programs; strong problem-solving and analytical skills; detail oriented; ability to work independently in a fast-paced, collaborative environment; creative, adaptive and responsive approach to relationship management; poise, compassion, creativity and integrity coupled with the ability to earn the confidence of a wide range of internal and external constituents; proven outcomes for developing tactics to meet goals and objectives; strong writing and editing skills.
Functional Accountabilities Strategic Program Development
Initiate and set goals for programs according to the strategic objectives of the organization.
Plan the programs from start to completion involving deadlines, milestones and processes.
Devise evaluation strategies to monitor performance and determine the need for improvements.
Apply change, risk and resource management principles when needed.
Read reports prepared by managers to determine progress and issues.
Keep senior management informed with detailed and accurate reports or presentations.
Ensure programs are synchronized with the work of the research, network, advocacy and communications departments.
Ensure programs reflect Safe Kids\' commitment to equity.
Promote Injury Prevention Programs and Resources
Manage project teams in the development of culturally relevant educational materials, evaluation tools and online resources for programs and initiatives.
Serve as the technical advisor to develop content for awareness campaigns and on web properties, social media channels, etc.
Collaborate with the Program, Research and Communications teams to ensure injury prevention information is disseminated accurately and effectively to public audiences.
Direct and lead break-out sessions, and recruit speakers for Safe Kids’ global childhood injury prevention conferences that bring together international experts, global partners and local coalition coordinators.
Manage break-out sessions and conduct presentations to share the organization’s current and upcoming initiatives at external conferences and meetings.
Manage Sponsor Relationships and Key Partnerships
Cultivate, maintain and enhance partnerships with corporate and federal sponsors.
Manage communication with partners and project teams to ensure effective and timely execution of programs and campaigns.
Collaborate with private and public sector organizations.
Collaborate with the Development team to prepare proposals, project plans and program reports to support and enhance sponsorships.
Represent Safe Kids at external meetings and on partner workgroups/committees.
Direct Program Staff
Hire, train and be a motivating mentor to staff.
Lead large group discussions to answer questions and remedy complaints
Create and nurture effective communication within the organization
Build a strong team through open communication and by collaborating on decision-making responsibilities
Hold themselves and their staff accountable for delivering upon expectations and deadlines with high quality
Direct Department Operations
Direct departmental operations, policies and procedures.
Ensure program operations and activities adhere to organizational guidelines and policies.
Discover and implement ways to enhance efficiency and productivity of procedures and people.
Manage development of program budgets, timelines and staffing needs to ensure program success and effectiveness. Monitor flow of funding and expenses to ensure financial compliance.
Reprioritize staff and budget as needed to address new challenges and opportunity.
