Job Summary
The Director - Pharmacy Ambulatory Infusion Services provides strategic, operational, and clinical leadership for all ambulatory oncology and non-oncology infusion pharmacy operations across HonorHealth. This role ensures the safe, effective, and compliant management of medications, resulting in optimal patient outcomes. The Director collaborates with clinical, operational, and administrative leaders to streamline infusion workflows and minimize medication-related harm. Provides leadership to seek out, promote and facilitate rapid adoption and assimilation of best practices to establish innovations in service, work methods, technology, and operational systems which improve service-line financial performance, pharmacy service, quality and productivity. Serves as the Pharmacist-in-Charge with the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy for all pharmacy licensed infusion clinics.
Essential Functions
Leads the planning, coordination, implementation, supervision, and evaluation of pharmaceutical services in infusion areas. Ensures compliance with state and federal regulations, USP 797 and 800 guidelines, and DNV standards. Develops and enforces system-wide policies and procedures to maintain regulatory compliance, including inventory management, drug procurement, and distribution. Oversees adherence to 340B program requirements.
Drives achievement of productivity, financial, and performance goals. Applies financial acumen to develop and manage budgets, monitor performance, and implement cost-containment strategies while optimizing reimbursement. Leads the adoption of best practices and innovations to enhance pharmacy services. Oversees all aspects of the medication use process and collaborates with clinical and operational leadership to implement drug use and cost management initiatives.
Monitors productivity of employees and initiates modifications to improve productivity. Ensures delivery of pharmacy services within budgeted level of resources. Monitors annual operating budgets for the areas of responsibility, compares actual and budgeted activity and explains variances. Stewards drug procurement, spend, and inventory management processes in area of responsibility.
Promotes interdepartmental collaboration across multi-site infusion areas. Partners with clinical and operational leaders to align pharmacy services with patient care goals and service line expansion. Leads strategic planning for new infusion services, service diversification, and technology integration. Represents pharmacy in enterprise initiatives and governance forums.
Oversees staffing, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, coaching, and development. Ensures alignment of team goals with the organization’s mission, vision, and values.
Participates in internal and external committees and professional organizations at the local, state, and national levels.
Education
Bachelor's Degree - in Pharmacy from an accredited College of Pharmacy -
