Erlanger Behavioral Health Hospital, a state-of-the-art 96-bed behavioral health facility located in Chattanooga, Tennessee, is seeking a dynamic and mission-driven Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead all aspects of hospital operations and strategy. A joint venture between Erlanger Health System and Acadia Healthcare, Erlanger Behavioral Health provides vital psychiatric and behavioral health services to adults, adolescents, and children across the region. With a broad continuum of care including inpatient psychiatric treatment, Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), Erlanger Behavioral Health is a trusted provider meeting the growing demand for mental health services in the community.

As CEO, you will provide visionary and strategic leadership to ensure Erlanger Behavioral Health continues to grow as a premier destination for compassionate, high-quality behavioral health care. Reporting directly to a Division President, you will be responsible for: Ensuring regulatory compliance and clinical excellence Driving operational and financial performance Building and retaining an engaged workforce Partnering with Erlanger Health System, physicians, and community leaders to expand access and awareness Leading business development initiatives to enhance service offerings and community impact What We Offer

Be instrumental in developing a culture that emphasizes high quality care and patient safety Manages day-to-day operations and staff to achieve facility objectives across key performance areas including clinical outcomes, fiscal management, licensure/accreditation, and business development Organizes day-to-day management through departmentalization, delegation, and alignment of responsibilities to meet patient care and business objectives Creates and maintains a network of local constituency groups including government agencies, local businesses, affiliate health providers, and the surrounding community Appraises leadership team performance, provides coaching/corrective action as appropriate under the governing body Ensures staff participation in in-service and continuing education programs for adults, seniors, adolescents, and families Recruits allied health professionals and psychiatrists to expand service offerings Collaborates with corporate contracting to manage contract negotiations and compliance with commercial payers Leads development of continuum of care including outpatient services and community-based programs Serves as final authority for staff performance concerns and improvement activities Chairs periodic governing body, medical staff, and executive management meetings as appropriate Adheres to company policies and maintains integrity and professionalism Stays current with national healthcare initiatives and relevant state associations Maintains effective survey readiness with auditing, corrective actions, and preventive measures to ensure accreditation and regulatory compliance Ensures adherence to Corporate Compliance with timely follow-up on issues and staff training Oversees Governing Board reporting and quarterly calls; addresses patient safety issues promptly Supports QAPI activities with resources and training Demonstrates leadership in planning, development, and implementation of long-range goals Maintains understanding of marketplace, customers, and external forces Manages organization to budget and financial goals with strong execution and financial acumen Supports the executive team in achieving organizational mission and vision Key Responsibilities
Enhance the organization’s reputation within the community for mental health, addiction, treatment, and recovery Build credibility among leadership, staff, medical staff, and nursing leadership; be highly visible in the hospital Ensure financial soundness and positive operating margins Increase occupancy, payer mix, and customer satisfaction Drive culture toward innovation and revenue diversification, including virtual programs Promote diversity, equity, inclusion, transparency, and collaboration to achieve high engagement and satisfaction Maintain a culture focused on performance improvement, quality, and service excellence Develop a clear strategy to position the organization as a national voice for mental health, addiction, treatment, and recovery Education/Certification
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Marketing, Clinical Discipline, or related field is required Master’s degree in health care administration, business administration, clinical discipline, or related field is preferred Knowledge And Work Experience
Minimum of three to five years of senior leadership or CEO experience in behavioral health, acute care, or managed care Thorough knowledge of facility administration and clinical operations; experience turning around an organization and directing crisis and inpatient behavioral health services Ability to manage multiple tasks within tight timeframes and adapt to priority changes Strong initiative, self-direction, communication, and problem-solving skills Ability to handle sensitive data with confidentiality Excellent interpersonal skills across all levels Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; able to work under pressure Knowledge of state and federal laws/regulations governing mental health and addiction treatment, including CMS, Joint Commission, AHCA, HIPAA, and 42 CFR Experience leading licensure, accreditation, and compliance in a behavioral health facility Transformational leader with hospital administrator experience or similar high-visibility leadership Strong financial acumen and business development knowledge History of building high-performing teams and succession planning with HR collaboration English sufficient for providing and receiving instructions Personal Characteristics
