Staff Infrastructure Engineer Remote Location: Boston, MA; Seattle, WA; San Francisco Bay Area; Austin, TX; or Washington, DC Position Summary
As a Staff Infrastructure Engineer, you will work with your team on challenging projects and build the infrastructure for our platform and the thousands of companies that trust HackerOne with their cybersecurity posture. You will be a collaborative leader and team member, combining broad technical expertise, deep domain knowledge, and a strong commitment to security. You will seek leadership responsibilities, spearhead new initiatives, and drive improvements across codebases. You understand how to build highly available, performant, and durable cloud architecture, and you will work cross-functionally to gain buy-in from stakeholders with a service mindset. This role is remote but targeted for candidates within approximately 50 miles of the specified locations to enable occasional in-person collaboration. What You Will Do
Your first 30 days: onboard with your squad, learn the technology stack (AWS, Terraform, Ruby on Rails, GraphQL, and more). By day 60: participate in on-call rotations, lead a meaningful project, and connect with the broader HackerOne organization. Beyond 90 days: be a full-fledged Infrastructure Engineer who translates feature requests into robust engineering solutions and understands the business value of our products. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive innovation, execution, and alignment across multiple domains. Contribute to a positive team culture across the US and Europe. Invest in personal growth and professional development. Apply technical skills to build scalable, secure solutions while fostering strong team relationships. Participate in an on-call rotation (one week every four weeks) as the primary contact for incoming requests and system reliability. Minimum Qualifications
8+ years of experience with Linux, AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes, Datadog, Cloudflare, OpenSearch. Willingness to participate in on-call rotation (9:00-21:00 PT / 12:00-12:00 ET) once every 4 weeks; Sunday to Monday schedule. Experience with modern DevOps toolchains and CI/CD pipelines. Successful track record of shipping projects quickly with multiple dependencies across technical and non-technical teams. Expert-level Site Reliability Engineering capabilities. Strong interest in secure software patterns and InfraSec principles. Excellent teamwork and communication skills. Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitLab or GitHub Actions and pipeline optimization. Experience with emerging AI technologies (model deployment, data compliance). Familiarity with FedRAMP, SOC2, ISO27001; secure-by-default infrastructure design. Compensation & Benefits
