Staff Accountant - San Francisco, Market Street

Overview The Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting the Assistant Director of Finance in maintaining the general ledger and balance sheet reconciliations, and for supervising other areas within the Finance Department under the direction of the Assistant Director of Finance. Responsibilities Supervise areas within the Finance Department as directed, including payroll, accounts payable, and general cashiering in accordance with relevant local and corporate policies and procedures. Maintain the general ledger and manage balance sheet reconciliations. Direct and supervise payroll, accounts payable, and general cashiering activities to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with internal controls. Assist in developing Finance Department staff to support future growth of the company. Maintain working knowledge of the Accounting & Finance Manual and current USALI standards. Participate in month-end close, including preparation of financial statements, accruals, and journal entries; maintain reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts. Prepare and coordinate monthly reconcilations for all balance sheet accounts and bank reconciliations; investigate and resolve outstanding reconciling items. Contribute to budgeting and forecasting processes; support department heads with labor standards and labor budgeting. Ensure income is properly recorded and a timely Daily Business Report is generated. Assist with internal and external audits by preparing required backup and work papers; provide analysis and control over balance sheet and P&L accounts. Provide coverage for Finance staff during vacations or leave and maintain knowledge of all areas within Finance. Support labor standards development and review department labor standards against actuals, identifying variances and proposing changes with proper approvals. Assist with monthly adjustments, vacation and medical deduction audits, and other ad hoc financial tasks as needed. Ensure adherence to hotel policies, security, retention, and disposal procedures for financial records. Qualifications & Experience Two to five years of experience in a Finance Department, preferably in a hotel setting.
