SOURCING SPECIALIST, RESEARCH, Procure to Pay Job Description The Sourcing Specialist Research is a key member of the Procure to Pay (P2P) team at Boston University. Under the general management of the Senior Associate Director of Research, the Sourcing Specialist is primarily responsible for the execution of an annual category plan for assigned indirect spend commodities. The Sourcing Specialist works independently as a member of the P2P Sourcing Team, and on an as-needed basis, supports and collaborates with the Procurement, Shared Services, and Payables teams within P2P.

Responsibilities

Deliver measurable, quantifiable cost and/or process efficiencies using BU’s established Sourcing Methodology, including: 1) Project Confirmation, Analysis, and Planning; 2) Strategy Development, Competitive Event, and Selection; and 3) Implementation and Monitoring.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop, manage, and execute category plan initiatives to deliver best total value to the university, including managing competitive bid events and negotiating business and legal terms.

Build and manage internal business relationships by providing guidance and expertise on sourcing best practices, including supplier selection, industry insights, negotiation strategies, and contracting.

Support communication and change management efforts associated with executed projects, and develop and manage a supplier performance program within the assigned Research spend categories.

Develop an understanding of spending by sub-category, supplier, unit, and geography; develop demand management plans to identify spending trends and formulate savings opportunities.

Qualifications

Salary range: $65,000-$70,000.

Boston University supports a flexible work environment for authorized staff members. This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement (remote work up to three days per week) after a successful observation period.

B.A./B.S. in business, finance, accounting, management, nonprofit administration, or public administration.

3+ years of experience with demonstrated proficiency in:

Public speaking, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage concurrent projects with multiple stakeholders.

Ability to lead with vision and motivate others.

Professionalism, good judgment, and integrity.

Detail oriented, demonstrating accuracy and quality of work output.

Ability to work optimally and collaboratively in a small, collegial team environment.

Self-motivated, proactive, intellectually curious.

Preferred Skills

Experience in a Sourcing & Procurement function with exposure to an eProcurement system such as SAP Ariba.
