Division Controller – Manufacturing Industry Leader
(Confidential Search) We are representing a publicly traded manufacturing industry leader in their search for a
Business Unit Controller . This newly created position follows the recent acquisition of a business, and will be the new leader to oversee the division’s accounting, FP&A, and internal control functions. Location:
Naperville, IL (Hybrid) — extensive travel for the first year. Compensation:
$150K–$205K base + bonus + LTI Reports To:
VP / Corporate Controller Team Size:
10-15 Base pay range : $150,000.00/yr - $205,000.00/yr Primary Responsibilities
Act as the primary financial partner to division leadership, providing forward-looking analysis, strategic guidance, and operational support. Lead budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes, translating financial data into actionable recommendations. Manage and develop a high-performing accounting and finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Oversee all division-level accounting functions, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with US GAAP and corporate standards. Direct month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations, journal entries, and consolidated reporting. Maintain and enhance internal controls, ensuring compliance with SOX and other regulatory requirements. Partner with internal and external auditors to facilitate efficient and accurate audit processes. Collaborate with corporate teams on capital planning, investment evaluations, and large-scale strategic projects. Drive process improvements and leverage ERP capabilities (Oracle/SAP) to optimize efficiency and reporting accuracy. Qualifications
Proven leadership experience in manufacturing finance, ideally within a publicly traded organization. Minimum of 12 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, with at least 5 years in a senior Controller capacity. Demonstrated success managing large teams, with 8+ direct reports and oversight of multi-location operations. Strong track record of partnering with operations and executive leadership to influence strategic and operational outcomes. Expertise with ERP systems, preferably Oracle or SAP, and ability to champion process and system improvements. Deep knowledge of US GAAP, SOX compliance, and internal control frameworks. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA designation strongly preferred. Public accounting foundation is advantageous but not mandatory. How to apply
