The Vice President, Corporate Controller is a key member of the Finance leadership team at Medica. Reporting to the CFO, this executive leader is responsible for the strategic and operational oversight of the organization\'s accounting, financial reporting, treasury, and controllership functions. This role will ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial results, maintain a strong internal control environment, and lead process improvements to support the health plan\'s growth, modernization, and regulatory compliance. The VP will directly oversee a team of finance professionals, aligning and elevating the organization\'s financial operations to support cross-functional collaboration and long-term sustainability. Key Accountabilities

Controllership & Financial Operations

Lead and oversee all accounting and financial operations, including general ledger, revenue accounting, accounts payable, fixed assets, and payroll

Oversee the monthly and annual close process, ensuring timely and accurate preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP

Maintain and strengthen a robust internal control environment and accounting policy framework

Provide oversight of financial systems, chart of accounts, and system integration to support efficient, scalable operations

Regulatory Accounting & Operations

NAIC and legal entity structure

Ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations, including GAAP and statutory accounting principles. This includes preparing and filing quarterly and annual financial statements, tax documents, and coordinating with external auditors

Treasury & Cash Management

Provide executive leadership for treasury operations, including cash flow forecasting, liquidity management, and investment policy adherence

Oversee banking relationships and manage capital deployment in line with organizational priorities

Support enterprise-level financial planning and capital strategy in collaboration with the CFO and FP&A team

Leadership & Transformation

Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams across accounting and treasury functions

Drive financial process improvements, automation initiatives, and system enhancements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and transparency

Serve as a strategic finance partner across the organization, contributing to cross-functional transformation efforts and enterprise-wide initiatives

Governance & Risk Management

Support the CFO and senior leadership in preparing materials for the Finance & Audit Committee of the Board

Partner with Compliance, Legal, Actuarial, and other departments to ensure alignment and adherence to financial policies and standards

Collaborate with external auditors, regulatory agencies, and industry stakeholders to ensure clear, consistent communication and audit readiness

Required Qualifications

Bachelor\'s degree or equivalent experience, plus 15+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, with significant experience in controllership, accounting, and treasury functions

Preferred Qualifications

Deep understanding of GAAP, statutory reporting, and financial compliance in regulated industries

Experience in a health plan required

Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams and manage change in complex, cross-functional environments

Strong communication and executive presence, with the ability to influence across the enterprise

Demonstrated success in improving processes, strengthening controls, and advancing financial systems

This position is an Office role, which requires an employee to work onsite at our Minnetonka MN office, on average, 3 days per week.

The full base pay salary range for this position is $260,000-$390,000. Annual base pay salary range placement will depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, education, work experience, applicable certifications and or licensures, the position\'s scope and responsibility, internal pay equity and external market salary data.

In addition to base compensation, this position is eligible for Medica\'s Short Term Incentive plan, Long Term Incentive plan and our Supplemental Executive Retirement Plan.
