Eurofins Built Environment Testing is looking for an experienced TEM Asbestos Analyst in our Seattle, WA location. Relocation assistance may be available for the right candidate.
The Analyst performs analysis of bulk and air for asbestos mineral fibers using TEM (Transmission Electron Microscopy). Analyst prepares and analyzes environmental samples according to scientific methodology in compliance with company Quality Assurance programs and SOPs, and must be knowledgeable of both routine and complex analyses. The analyst validates and reviews data for accuracy, and uploads laboratory data into the LIMS that generates required reports to clients. Schedules sample workload according to due dates and sample hold times, and must be knowledgeable of the job-specific laboratory testing equipment, requiring discretion and judgment in its operation.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and analyze environmental samples for asbestos using TEM microscopy.
Adhere to EPA, NVLAP, ELAP, OSHA, and NIOSH standards for asbestos identification.
Accurately enter and report analytical data using the LIMS.
Perform independent data reviews for other analysts’ work.
Perform analysis of reference materials, proficiency samples and other quality control samples as needed.
Maintain client service and provide technical support as needed.
Assist the QA manager in development, implementation and data collection of QA processes for the different analytical tests.
Perform confirmation of lab results as needed by client services personnel.
Perform and complete all analytical testing QA related tasks as needed.
Assist in pursuing, receiving and maintaining necessary laboratory accreditations.
Maintain and update all necessary Training and QA documents onsite as necessary.
Coordinate and manage projects according to rush status and due time for timely delivery.
Assist co-workers on analytical questions, as necessary.
Participate in Lean initiatives and projects when called upon.
Follow company policies and procedures and ensure coworkers do the same.
Secondary Duties:
Manage and maintain the inventory of re-sale supply items and laboratory consumables and re-order supplies as needed.
Manage and dispose analyzed samples as needed.
Recommend and coordinate sample transfer as necessary.
Establish and maintain laboratory reference samples.
Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for errors and issues as necessary.
Maintain equipment and coordinate servicing of all laboratory equipment as needed.
Routinely communicate available capacity to Regional Manager.
Support other departments within the lab as appropriate and needed.
Other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the Supervisor/Manager.
Basic Minimum Qualifications:
1+ years of experience performing asbestos microscopy.
Undergraduate degree in Geology, Biology or related science, or TEM Asbestos training.
Experience utilizing a Transmission Electron Microscope preferred.
Willing to relocate to Seattle, WA.
Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.
Professional working proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking).
Compensation : $23 - $27 per hour depending on qualifications and experience.
Full-time, Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM, with overtime or weekend work as needed.
Candidates within commuting distance of Seattle, WA or willing to relocate are encouraged to apply.
