Sonesta International Hotels . The Banquet Captain supervises and coordinates activities of kitchen and dining room workers during banquets to ensure that food is served promptly by performing the duties described below. Responsibilities

Train servers in all aspects of banquet service. Serve as the primary point of contact for guests and event organizers. Maintain discipline in function rooms. Coordinate and time functions to ensure quality of food. Adhere to Sonesta standards. Manage subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of employees in the Banquet. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of units. Deliver passionate and engaging service to guests; anticipate and meet guest needs to exceed expectations. Uphold the GUEST model: Greet, Eye contact, Establish needs, Solve/own requests, Thank guests. Build solid relationships with colleagues and treat them with respect and dignity. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned; may work in other areas of the hotel as needed to support operations. Work Environment

Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment. Majority of work takes place indoors. Must be able to tolerate extreme temperatures (kitchens, freezers). Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Physical Demands

Regularly stand, walk, talk or hear; occasionally reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; may exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 20 pounds of force frequently. Expected Hours of Work

Flexible to work variable days, including weekends and holidays. Flexible to work variable shifts (days, nights, overnights). Ten to twelve hour shifts may be required. Qualifications and Skills

High school diploma or GED; or 1-3 months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and operating instructions; ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in banquet or related professional area; hotel or hospitality experience preferred. Basic knowledge of office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook) for general tasks. Proficiency with the restaurant POS system (e.g., Info Genesis or Micros) to process transactions. Pay and Benefits

Pay Range:

$14.50-$15.50 hourly . Base pay may vary based on knowledge, skills, and experience.
