Solution Architect (Retail, Cloud, Integration) Optomi, in partnership with a leading national retailer, is seeking an experienced Solution Architect for their Katy, TX location! This is a highly technical, hands-on role where the right candidate will set enterprise-level architecture guidelines, design scalable solutions, and work across multiple departments to ensure alignment with business strategy. The Solution Architect will be heavily involved in application, integration, and cloud frameworks, with a strong focus on retail systems, customer data platforms, and enterprise-wide solutions. Experience of the right candidate: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. 10+ years of IT experience with a strong background in solution/enterprise architecture. 2–3 years of retail industry experience (supply chain, merchandising, or retail applications). Strong experience with application architecture, integration patterns, and cloud frameworks. Hands-on experience with Kafka, integrations, and hybrid cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP). Knowledge of networks, infrastructure, and security as they relate to data flow and integration. Familiarity with TOGAF, Zachman, or other enterprise architecture frameworks. Excellent communication skills with the ability to adapt language for both technical and business stakeholders. Preferred: background in marketing systems, CDP platforms, retail COTS applications, or supply chain systems. Responsibilities of the right candidate: Define and communicate end-to-end solution architectures across application, integration, and cloud domains. Create architecture artifacts (conceptual, logical, physical, and deployment views) to align business needs with IT strategy. Partner with business and IT leadership to ensure solutions comply with enterprise standards and deliver measurable value. Lead integration efforts across platforms using Kafka and cloud-agnostic designs. Support retail and marketing initiatives, including customer data platforms (CDP) and supply chain solutions. Guide architectural decision-making for applications, networking, and cloud frameworks. Bridge the gap between waterfall and agile methodologies to support project delivery. Collaborate with diverse departments to establish strong working relationships between IT and business. Participate in design reviews, governance processes, and enterprise standards development.
