Overview
This is a 100% onsite position located in Elizabeth, NJ. The role is for Head of IT & OT Infrastructure – Automated Terminal Operations, reporting to the global technology team and overseeing a local IT team while collaborating with regional and global IT resources. Base pay range is $250,000.00/yr - $270,000.00/yr. US citizens and Green Card holders and those authorized to work in the US are encouraged to apply (no H1B sponsorship at this time). Summary: We seek a candidate with proven experience in maritime, cargo, or container terminal operations—ideally in fully automated environments. A strong technical background in both IT and Operational Technology (OT) is essential, with excellent stakeholder management and the ability to lead high-performing teams in a matrixed organization. A clear understanding of 24/7 terminal operations is critical. Responsibilities
Manage operational availability of Technology Infrastructure network, Technology Infrastructure systems, and technology service vendors. Hands-on capability to manage, implement, and operate IT infrastructure in a multinational context. Deliver expertise in industrial infrastructure networks, virtualization, compute systems, and technologies from Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto Meraki, and other global providers. Provide on-call L2 support, mentor local IT staff and cross-functional teams, resolve implementation and integration issues, coordinate with service providers, and communicate with senior management to drive business objectives. Manage IT Infrastructure Network & Systems, including people, supervision, scheduling, development, and evaluation of the local team. Ensure competence in industrial networks, virtualization, monitoring & management systems, wireless and endpoint configuration, design, and management. Evaluate requirements for new infrastructure technologies, services, or components. Implement practices addressing reliability, security, performance, and infrastructure best practices. Understand inter-system protocols (SQL connections, RPC, Web Services) and guide troubleshooting across systems. Lead large- and medium-scale projects with strong communication, scheduling, and resource marshaling. Plan maintenance, upgrades, OS patching, and automated configuration changes to minimize downtime. Mentor team members on procedures, SOPs, and act as escalation point for complex issues. Collaborate with internal/external engineers, MSPs, and vendors to ensure smooth IT infrastructure operations. Demonstrate strong leadership and team management capabilities. Qualifications
Engineering degree and certification in Project Management, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related discipline preferred. Minimum eight (8) years of technology infrastructure management, people management, and project management experience. Proficiency with Infrastructure Systems (VMware, vCenter, vSphere, Windows technologies, ADFS, Group Policies). Strong experience in infrastructure networking, switching concepts, VLANs, SD-WAN; WAN, Firewall concepts and architectures, IPS, and remote access methods. Cybersecurity practices and technologies, experience with third-party security providers. Experience configuring and managing network infrastructure and security solutions (Palo Alto, Cisco, Meraki, Zscaler, Fortinet). Strong analytical, organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills with a focus on business needs and cost containment. Ability to work well under pressure and communicate effectively. Cisco or equivalent certifications; CCNP or Fortinet Certified Professional (FCP) preferred. Strong client-focused troubleshooting approach. Compensation & Benefits
A reasonable, good faith estimate of base salary is $240k to $250k per year as base. This position may include discretionary bonus and/or commission compensation depending on various factors.
