Overview

Associate Vice President, Student Financial Services. Under general direction, this position provides leadership and oversight of all functional operations within the Student Financial Services area, including Bursar, Cashiering, Financial Aid, Veteran’s Benefits and Student Accounts. The role focuses on improving student financial services and responsiveness by creating a flexible, information-rich, compliant, customer-service environment for students, parents, and the College. Ensures regulatory compliance for all Student Financial Services activities and provides leadership to sustain fully functional student finance systems and business intelligence software used for processing and analyzing financial aid and college financial information. Posting indicates the position is open until filled and is a full-time regular appointment located in Cypress Creek Administrative Center.

Minimum Education

Master's degree in Accounting, Business, or a related subject required.

Minimum Experience/Training

Ten years of progressively responsible experience at a professional level in accounting, finance, or financial aid, including over eight years in management and five years in higher education. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Preferred: FAAC certification from NASFAA.

Essential Functions

Oversee the daily operations of the Student Financial Services offices (Bursar, Cashiers, Financial Aid, Veteran’s Benefits and Student Accounts); implement processes to maintain compliance with Federal, State, and Institutional regulations; act as a resource for student finance issues including financial aid and student accounts; provide leadership to ensure due diligence on debts owed to the college and the efficient awarding, processing, application, and disbursement of student financial aid from federal, state, institutional and foundation sources and third-party agencies; maintain operational controls and separation of duties; manage staff across multiple functional areas; respond to auditor inquiries. Provide leadership in the design and maintenance of financial applications; contribute to development of training programs and reconciliation procedures to maintain financial data. Develop, implement, enforce, and understand College policies and procedures for business transactions; stay aware of legal and regulatory issues in student financial services; liaise with departmental heads on changes; engage in professional associations to stay informed on industry issues. Manage personnel within the area, including staffing recommendations, hiring/termination, discipline, performance standards, and staff development. Prioritize and coordinate implementation of new system processes and maintenance of existing processes affecting the SFS organization and College-wide practices; oversee finance system design and system functionality; coordinate major system projects with College leadership. Represent the SFS Department in College meetings and external engagements to identify funding for students. Perform related duties as assigned.
