POSITION PURPOSE Provide a clean, safe and well-maintained hotel for our guests. To repair and maintain all areas of the hotel including guest rooms, public areas, ballrooms and function rooms, kitchens, restaurants, executive offices, back of house, roofs, parking, and electrical and mechanical rooms. Responsibilities
Maintain the physical structure of the facility. Possess knowledge of various trades and the ability to complete job assignments unsupervised and within scheduled completion dates. Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and cleaning programs and update records pertaining to these programs. Perform routine house calls as scheduled and other duties as assigned. Process and complete all work orders assigned and ensure that work performed complies with all applicable codes, safety, sanitation rules and regulations. Perform routine maintenance on supply fans/ducts and registers, guestroom fan coil units, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, wall covering, painting, carpet and other areas as assigned. Supportive functions include regular attendance as established by the hotel, working varying schedules to reflect business needs, and complying with hotel rules and regulations for safe operation of facilities. Ability to complete complicated tasks using job knowledge and skills; capable of adapting to complete tasks professionally. Use various hand and electric tools to complete job assignments. Read and understand written communications, instructions, blueprints & schematics, work orders and repair manuals; read meters (electric, gas, water). Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stoop, kneel, crawl, climb stairs and ladders, and work at heights up to ~20 feet for extended periods. Work unsupervised and perform tasks requiring bending, stooping and kneeling. Maintain a positive attitude towards guests and employees. Working knowledge of fire alarm/detection/sprinkler systems and emergency power systems, including halon and range hood suppression systems. General administration and safety practices including use of log books, maintenance manuals, floor plans, shop drawings, maintenance work orders, and safety procedures (MSDS, lockout/tagout, fire safety, bloodborne pathogens, regulatory & environmental compliance). Electrical, plumbing, HVAC/R knowledge including maintenance and repair of equipment, pumps, valves, backflow preventers, gas shut-offs, and related components. Painting, wallpaper, drywall, carpentry, floor coverings, and basic repairs to maintain facilities. Pool/water feature maintenance including chemical balance and equipment repairs. Qualifications & Standards
Experience
Two to five years of work experience in building maintenance required. Hotel industry experience preferred. Working knowledge of one or more trades such as electrical, carpentry, painting/wallcovering, or A/C refrigeration. Education
High school graduate required. Construction trade experience helpful. Licenses or Certificates
Journeyman trades license preferred. State of Hawaii Driver License required. Salary
