Sr Hardware Development Engineer, Server, Edge Computing, Edge (Job ID: 2837982) – Amazon Data Services, Inc. Utility Computing (UC) AWS provides product innovations across Compute, Database, Storage, IoT, Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, with support for customers requiring specialized security solutions. Server Hardware Engineer (Lead Engineer) within AWS Hardware Engineering creates compute, storage, accelerator, and enterprise servers for Amazon’s web services. We are seeking experienced hardware design engineers to design and build next-generation servers and AWS-specific hardware components. Our designs prioritize performance, frugality, and operational excellence to support AWS business and a large customer base. You will be an end-to-end owner from concept to production, comfortable with the full technology stack from service software to silicon, and will solve design challenges across server/board design, thermal-mechanical design, firmware/software, and operations. You will work with internal teams, suppliers, and external partners to ensure high-quality designs and drive total cost of ownership, quality, reliability, performance, and serviceability. This is a fast-paced role that involves collaboration with thought leaders across multiple technology areas, with a focus on improving product performance, quality, and cost. You will have ownership for the implementation of your work and will operate in a scale that requires rapid integration of emergent technologies. Responsibilities

As Server Hardware Engineer, bring new technology to our server & products and scale our fleet. Collaborate with internal development teams and external suppliers to deliver new servers with industry-leading performance and quality. Establish strategic vision and drive execution in defining and delivering new products and services. Lead the integration and delivery of servers, and support automated monitoring and failure analysis to operate, debug, and scale our servers. Work closely with other AWS software teams to tailor and operate server solutions for the AWS environment. Support launching servers into production and operating our fleet of servers. Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience. 7+ years of experience in server-level design for compute, storage, accelerator segments, or other complex product design. 7+ years’ experience leading ODMs and other suppliers in product development and manufacturing processes. Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures. Experience in board and server root cause analysis and resolution. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field. 10+ years of experience in complex product development such as servers, network switches, or other highly integrated devices with hardware, software, and service aspects. Expertise in early product definition and feature tradeoff analysis. Expertise in product development disciplines such as thermal, mechanical, power, firmware/software, reliability, and sustaining. Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production. Proficient scripting, debugging abilities, and Linux operations commands. Experience deploying and operating hardware and applications across large data centers. Experience leading hardware and software development engineering teams. The base pay ranges from $128,600/year to $213,600/year, with variations based on market, knowledge, skills, and experience.
