Amazon Web Services (AWS) Hardware Engineering creates compute and storage server designs for Amazon’s web services. Our engineers work with leading-edge technologies, solve challenging problems, influence industry roadmaps, and develop new and unique solutions. This team develops creative designs that set performance, quality, cost, and operational excellence standards for our customers. What you will do : As a member of the Server Hardware Engineering team you will own and lead the design and development of server products using a wide range of design and manufacturing partners. You will work closely with customers to understand their technical needs and business goals, using your experience with server design and knowledge of various teams to architect scalable solutions. To deliver your products you will work with an interdisciplinary team of component, firmware, test, qualification, and integration engineers, and lead our design and manufacturing partners to bring these servers to the data center. After launch you will oversee the fleet of servers you develop, monitoring their quality and how they meet customer requirements. This is a fast-paced, intellectually challenging position. You will work with thought leaders in multiple technology areas, maintain high standards for yourself and others, and continually seek ways to improve product performance, quality, and cost. Basic Qualifications Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures Experience in server technologies such as thermal, mechanical, power, and signal integrity Bachelors degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or equivalent 5+ years of experience with design and manufacturing processes 5+ years of experience leading ODMs and other suppliers in product development and manufacturing In-depth expertise in one or more server technologies such as thermal/mechanical design, high-speed bus design and signal integrity, failure analysis, server components (e.g., CPU, GPU, SSDs, drives), BIOS, BMC, and networking Excellent written and oral communication skills Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production 10+ years hardware development with a focus on system/server development for large-scale compute/storage architectures Expertise in early product definition and feature trade-off analysis Experience with server validation and root-cause analysis Experience deploying and operating hardware and applications across large data centers Proficient scripting, debugging abilities, and Linux command skills Experience leading hardware and software development engineering teams Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across multiple US geographic markets. Base pay ranges from $125,700/year to $219,900/year, depending on market and experience.
