Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day project accounting operations, including billing, job cost tracking, change orders, and subcontractor payments. Manage a team of project accountants, providing guidance, training, and performance oversight. Partner with project managers to review budgets, forecasts, cost-to-complete, and profitability analyses. Ensure timely and accurate preparation of project financial reports for management and stakeholders. Review and approve monthly project billing, draw requests, and lien waivers. Monitor compliance with contractual terms, company policies, and accounting standards. Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations and reporting of project-related accounts. Support external audits, lender requests, and internal control requirements. Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve financial visibility across projects. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA a plus. 4–6+ years of progressive accounting experience, with experience in construction or real estate development accounting. Strong knowledge of job cost accounting, percentage-of-completion, and construction industry practices. Proficiency with construction/project accounting systems (e.g., Yardi, Procore, Viewpoint, JD Edwards, Sage). Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines across complex projects. Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
