Overview
The Front Desk Supervisor (FDS) is responsible for delivering results that contribute to the mission and success of the hotel. The FDS leads front desk training, supervision, and scheduling, and assists the Front Office Manager with accounting and human resources functions. The FDS serves as the lead point of contact for front desk technology systems and in-house guest marketing initiatives, represents the hotel in the absence of the General Manager and Front Office Manager, and may function as a Guest Service Agent. Responsibilities
Deliver on the promise of Sonesta Service in all guest and client interactions, and manage according to the Sonesta G.U.E.S.T. standards, instilling a passion for customer service in all associates. Ensure staff are trained on front desk operations, hotel facilities and services, local directions, safety and emergency procedures, and have necessary supplies. Supervise front desk and reservation functions to deliver superior guest services, ensure security of monies, credit card transactions, and guest information. Supervise the security of cash, credit card transactions, and guest information. Oversee the seasonal demand reservation strategy in collaboration with hotel management; work with Opera (PMS) and Synxis (reservation system) to maximize revenue through occupancy and rate adjustments based on market conditions. Establish effective Front Desk communication through logs, department meetings, and one-on-one staff interactions. Fulfill guest special requests and ensure proper delivery of guest services. Supervise daily execution of Market by ensuring it is stocked and maintained in an orderly and appealing manner. Establish and implement service recovery guidelines to ensure complete guest satisfaction; respond to complaints promptly and professionally. Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other shifts and management. Register guests, issue room keys, provide information on hotel services and room locations; answer phones promptly and courteously. Supervise accurate processing of all cash and credit card transactions, including posting charges, cashier reports, deposits, and cash handling. Communicate outstanding guest requests or issues to management for monitoring or follow-up. Regularly sell hotel rooms through direct client contact. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws regarding health, safety, and alcohol service. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications and Requirements
High School diploma or equivalent required. Two years of previous hotel experience required. Experience in extended stay industry preferred. Ability to speak, read, and write fluent English; other languages beneficial. Professional verbal and written communication skills. Mathematical skills, including basic math, budgeting, profit/loss concepts, percentages, and variances preferred. Problem solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational and training abilities preferred. ServSafe certification required; TIPS certification may be required. Experience with Microsoft Office and Opera systems required. Valid driver’s license required. Physical ability to stand, bend, climb, kneel, and move about the facility; ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Willingness to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Pay Range & Benefits
Pay Range:
$31.22 per hour. Base pay offered may vary depending on factors including job knowledge, skills, and experience.
