The Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine is seeking an optometrist to join the Wilmer Eye Institute\'s comprehensive eye care division. This individual will work independently to provide primary ocular evaluations for patients at Wilmer Eye Institute\'s outpatient clinic location in Bethesda, MD. Comprehensive care providers perform vision and medical eye exams within the bounds of individual licensure and Maryland\'s legal scope of practice. Common encounters include diabetic eye examinations; evaluation of dry eye disease, cataracts, and stable glaucoma; Plaquenil screenings; triage of urgent eye or vision concerns; and co-management of postoperative patients. On-site referral/consultation for patients requiring surgical or advanced subspecialist care in glaucoma, retina, cornea, neuro-ophthalmology, oculoplastics, and low vision rehabilitation. Vision care services include prescription of glasses and soft contact lenses, with the opportunity to build a practice in specialty therapeutic contact lenses. Provide primary ocular evaluations and medical eye care within licensure and state scope of practice. Coordinate on-site referrals/consultations for surgical or subspecialist care (glaucoma, retina, cornea, neuro-ophthalmology, oculoplastics, and low vision rehabilitation). Prescribe glasses and soft contact lenses; opportunities to build a practice in specialty therapeutic contact lenses. Collaborate with on-site optical team and Johns Hopkins multidisciplinary care providers using the Epic EMR system. Engage in academic or clinical teaching as a faculty or clinical staff member and participate in departmental activities and continuing education. Qualifications

Minimum of one (1) year of experience or successful completion of an accredited optometry residency program. Expertise/experience in Neuro-Ophthalmology and Diplopia Management is preferred. Education: Graduation from an accredited school of Optometry; License in good standing in Maryland; National Provider Identification (NPI) required. Application Instructions
