Overview
Medical Director (MD/DO) – Adult Hospitalist at Inova Loudoun Hospital (ILH) in Leesburg, VA. The ILH Hospitalist Group provides care under the Medicine Service Line and is led by the Medical Director, who serves as the primary Group representative and liaison to other departments and leadership across ILH and the Medicine Service Line. Responsibilities
General Group administration and operations: contribute to the Group's strategic vision and operating plan in alignment with ILH and the Medicine Service Line; develop and manage internal Group communications; supervise administrative committees; develop content for Group meetings; manage project portfolios to improve core quality measures, patient flow, capacity, and interdepartmental relationships; represent the Group in external meetings and at inspections; develop staffing plans and direct the Group work schedule in alignment with patient care goals; apply Inova policies and contribute to policy development. Group Member Management and Development: design and manage physician and APP training and onboarding; oversee recruitment and credentialing; supervise performance and implement performance improvement and disciplinary processes; conduct annual performance reviews; maintain personnel files; provide on-call support as required. Financial Management and Other Analyses: contribute to revenue cycle and budgeting; assist with payroll/benefits processes; participate in financial or other analyses for project evaluation and management. Other Responsibilities: assist Quality with patient complaint resolution; participate in physician training events and annual self-evaluation; engage with the Inova Foundation to support priorities; collaborate with leadership as directed. Performance measures: annual evaluation based on progress toward operating plan goals, project advancement, relationships with Group members and external leaders, staff and scheduling management, and documentation of member management and development. Qualifications
MD or DO, Board Certified to practice Internal Medicine in Virginia Eligible for full-time employment by Inova and credentialed in good standing Minimum five (5) years of collective Hospitalist experience, with an active clinical role within the most recent two-year period, including at least one (1) year of direct clinical teaching with residents and/or medical students Minimum two (2) consecutive years of official administrative or leadership experience in a hospital or healthcare setting Knowledge of hospital quality improvement processes (training acceptable but not required) Knowledge of organizational management concepts and project management; advanced degree or training is welcome but not required Aligns with Inova’s mission, vision, values and strategic direction Preferred Qualifications
Seven (7) years of collective Hospitalist experience with active clinical role in the most recent two-year period, and two (2) years of direct clinical teaching experience Four (4) consecutive years of official administrative or leadership experience in a hospital or healthcare setting Benefits
