STIPEND OPPORTUNITY: Language Assessment Team Facilitator’s (LAT-F) (SY25-26) at Boston Public Schools. This is a stipended position available to current, eligible, licensed BPS employees whose current job status allows participation. LAT-F Description
The Language Assessment Team Facilitator (LAT-F) is a school-based educator who supports school leaders in implementing the BPS English Learner Education program. Note: Schools with 150+ ELs or K–8 configurations may split LAT-F responsibilities between two (or more) staff members. Position Requirements
ESL License, SEI Endorsement, and/or Bilingual Education Endorsement Experience teaching ESL, SEI, TBE, Dual Language, or SLIFE Demonstrates strong leadership and organizational skills BTU Member (Note: Managerial staff are not stipend-eligible because LAT-F duties would not fall outside of the employee’s regular job duties) Preferred: At least one year teaching within the school community Preferred: Working knowledge of state and district policies governing Multilingual Learner services (Massachusetts Ch.71A, LOOK Act, META Consent Decree) Reports To
School Leaders and The Office of Multilingual and Multicultural Education (OMME). LAT-F Responsibilities
Professional Development & Guidance Updates: Attend required LAT-F meetings and trainings; stay current via LAT-F Google Classroom and Resource Central; read monthly ML updates from OMME; share guidance with school teams; advise on PD options for teachers of multilingual learners. Note: LAT-Fs will be added once their school leader submits the LAT-F selection form. Student Records: Maintain and assist with ML records in Ellevation and related documentation; input ESL services into Aspen; review ML status; send parent notices; coordinate MCAS/ACCESS accommodations; manage EL Progress Reports. Implement and Disseminate Guidance on ML Services and Rights: Liaison between OMME and school leadership; facilitate meetings; coordinate scheduling of ML services with COSE; ensure ESL representation at IEPs where needed. Student Language Development Assessment: Organize ACCESS testing participation; administer DESE Pre-K Identification Screening Tool for K0/K1; administer WIDA Kindergarten Screener; analyze assessment data with teachers. Monitoring Procedures: Establish progress monitoring for FEL and Opt-Out students; disseminate monitoring guidance; schedule and document monitoring meetings; follow up on progress and EL reinstatement of services as needed. LOOK Act Benchmarks Monitoring: Monitor MLs not meeting English Proficiency Benchmarks; disseminate ILP-related information; create/store ILPs in Ellevation and track progress; report results to OMME. Lead LAT: Lead the school’s Language Assessment Team, including staff such as ESL teachers, core content teachers, counselors, and support staff as appropriate. Other: Advise on Title I expenditures for MLs; complete OMME End of Year Checklist; note on timing of resource updates. Compensation
Elementary LAT-F stipend: In accordance with BTU, $1,030 per every 25 ELs at the school (including K0 and K1) during SY25-26. Stipend amounts depend on ML enrollment (October SIMS). See attached stipend details. For schools with over 150 MLs or K-8 configurations, two LAT-Fs may be identified; if only one LAT-F is identified, they receive the full stipend. Stipend form deadlines apply and links are provided by OMME. Secondary School Compensation: LAT-F duties granted as two administrative periods per week in lieu of stipend. Additional Information
